Dolphin Browser for Android offers a free, fully-featured, Internet browsing experience for Android devices. It is quick, fairly stable, and beautifully designed. All these attributes make it a good alternative to the stock browser.

Dolphin Browser for Android downloads and installs very easily, even for beginners. The user interface is intuitive, but it does have a few quirky features that can take time to get used to. One of these features is the Dolphin quick menu. This is a small logo located in the bottom left corner that accesses three features by holding the button down. With this menu, users can access the settings menu, a display of all the open Internet pages, and a search tool. The idea for the Dolphin quick menu may seem good at first, but could become annoying later on. It can happen that the user accidentally activates the menu, because it is in the browsing window, and it is semi translucent. Additionally, there is no option to deactivate it. The search tool includes an unusual feature, as well, called "Gesture Searching." The user is supposed to draw a hieroglyph and the browser will automatically recognize it and conduct the search. Even though a quite unique and interesting feature, Gesture Searching seems a bit pointless. Apart from these additional features, the browser, itself, performs well and is quite fast and smooth.

Dolphin Browser for Android looks great and, overall, offers good performance, making it suitable for Android users looking for a decent alternative to the stock browser.

"Dolphin Browser has simple interface & tabbed browsing."

March 31, 2015 | By Sandeep_Gill

| Version: Dolphin Browser 11.4.2

Pros

1. Intuitive interface.
2. Password manager.
3. Sync with Google bookmark.
4. Gesture &voice based navigation.
5. Strong set of add-ons support.
6. Evernote screen grabber is also available.

Cons

1. Desktop version is not available.

Summary

Dolphin Browser was a trailblazer when it came to market with a huge quantity of features, like gestures & custom agent which let users load both desktop & mobile versions of websites. Its add-ons support make manual customizations more meaningful in the form of LastPass, web to PDF conversion, speed test & much more.

"The best mobile browser that you can't miss"

March 16, 2015 | By wm_vivian

| Version: Dolphin Browser 11.3.4

Pros

1. Intelligent semantic recognition
Sonar uses Google's built-in voice recognition API to translate your words to text, before using their Dolphin-specific backend to figure out what the words mean. Even in this initial build you get fairly impressive voice interaction. You can navigate to pages, add new tabs, and use popular social sites ("Facebook Kate Perry") to search for people. You can also direct Sonar to "Yelp" things if you want reviews of a new restaurant you are considering.
2. Various provided plugins
You saw an awesome video on YouTube, but YouTube did not offer a download right. You changed a browser, but lost tons of bookmarks at the same time. You interested in a game, but your storage was too small to install this app. Various plugins in dolphin browser make those problem solved.
3. Fresh Interface
Default setting of fresh green brings you breath of spring. Meanwhile, optional provided skins are Fabulous and you even can upload photos.

Cons

a little accounting your RAM.

Summary

If you're tired of polishing up the chrome or using your stock Android browser, you might want to give the Dolphin Browser a try. The developer claims over 100 million downloads on Android and iOS, and you can join them by clicking on the source-link.

"Could be far better"

April 16, 2010 | By johngml

| Version: Dolphin Browser for Android 2.5

Pros

Very little to like, certainly no faster than standard browser, does integrate some Google apps.

Cons

No instructions, little control, cannot change homepage, not fast like claimed, claims to link with social sites but didn't, just felt chucked together with little thought to the end user. Always felt it was the browser in control rather than me.

Summary

Have tried this browser twice and got rid of it both times. The standard browser isn't brilliant but it is far easier to use and you have more control over it. Dolphin is claimed to be fast but when I timed it against the standard browser I could not see any improvement. Claims to link with some social media sites but doesn't. Hate the fact that the home page is a full page advert with a Google search box near the top. If I could set the home page to what I want, if it offered an easy route to return to the homepage I might try it again as I don't care that the other stuff doesn't work but I am not using a browser that offers me so little control.

"Better than default browser but not perfect."

March 22, 2010 | By mikeg281

| Version: Dolphin Browser for Android 2.5

Pros

Faster and the tabs are kinda a plus

Cons

Features that I commonly use are buried too deep in menus. Like finding your bookmarks and opening your homepage.

Summary

I'll stick with opera

"Start using the advanced feature and you won't go back"

March 19, 2010 | By atcocoabeach

| Version: Dolphin Browser for Android 2.5

Pros

True tabbed browsing
Advanced gestures
Can map any gesture you want to any feature.
Tabbed browsing works really well.
Option to turn off all UI and work tabs using gestures alone... frees up space.
Pinch zoom (nice but requires two hands)

Cons

I wish it had an offline support where you could open several pages and come back to them anytime later

Summary

Pinch zoom is nice. But advanced gestures are great. Add your own for "refresh" (google news, hello). You can map any gesture you want to any feature.
Tabbed browsing works really well. With gestures, I turned off the "tabs" and freed up UI space.

Con: If you open several pages in tabs in order to read them offline, there is a timer in which if you try to go back to them offline, they automatically try to refresh. Annoying for travelers that want to queue up content for the tunnel...

"Great browser, but I had take over my phone :/"

March 19, 2010 | By spoonman522

| Version: Dolphin Browser for Android 2.5

Pros

Tabbed browsing, gestures, easy to use, plenty fast

Cons

Acted as a default browser, even though I had gone into the settings and specified that it not be.

Summary

This really is a great browser. It has tabbed browsing where Android's original browser doesn't. It has the ability to use gestures which is a pretty cool and handy feature for a touchscreen phone. The browser is also easy to use and plenty fast and I also like the fact the one is able to save a webpage to read it later.
With all the good stuff being said, there is only one thing that bugged me about Dolphin. It takes over your phone. Now this may seem trivial to other users who may want this browser as their default browser, but not me. I like this browser a lot; however, I dont want it as my default browser. And even though I went into it's settings and specified that it not be my default browser, it still acted like it was. It would open most of my pages in Dolphin even though I would click on Android's default broswer. this was really annoying. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling the browser, but that didn't solve the problem. I've also read similar comments from other users having the same issues as me so I do not believe it is an isolated incident.
So until Dolphin can solve this problem, the broswer will remain uninstalled from my phone. Which is a shame because I really do believe its the best broswer out there right now for Android, I just have this thing about software taking over one's devices. Whether it be my laptop or my phone.

"Firefox-style browser with quickness for phones"

February 04, 2010 | By tcortezt

| Version: Dolphin Browser for Android 2.0

Pros

I like the multiple tabs, the ease to switch between tabs and how quick pages load.

Cons

The dolphin homepage is unnecessary, and of course there could be more gestures. No flash video capabilities.

Summary

Customizing gestures is awesome, but their could be more. Browsing is pretty seamless, looks just like the webpage and you can do pretty much everything you would be able to on a regular browser. With more updates will become more accessibility, of course. Not sure Firefox can make a better browser for Android.
