Version: Docsmartz PDF Converter Pro 3
"Excellent Product with Great Support"
Pros: Docsmartz PDF converter is versatile PDF converter software which offers great product features and is backed by excellent customer support.
Docsmartz PDF converter was tried on a 279 page document (with images, tables and flowcharts) in Win 2K environment and Win XP environment. The resulting conversions were completely fault free.
1. The new DocSmartz software automatically recognizes rotated pages and its contents and preserves text, layout, and images in the converted Word document as in the original PDF document. If your text, image, or shape is vertical in the PDF document, it will get replicated as it is in your converted Word document.
2. In case of multi-column text layout in the PDF document, during conversion DocSmartz 3.0 preserves the original multi-column text and page layout
The text in the converted document can be easily edited as per customer need.
3. If your PDF document contains active Hyperlinks and Bookmarks, your converted Word document will also display the same links.
4. The entire process from buying the software to installation of the software to actual usage of the software is extremely easy and customer friendly.
5. The user interface is highly intuitive and easy to use.
Where docsmartz stands tall compared to other products is the excellent technical support with a highly responsive customer care. The replies are not only quick but highly personalized.
The clincher is docsmartz pricing which is less than half that of comparable products.
All in all Docsmartz is an excellent product with extremely competitive pricing.

Version: Docsmartz PDF Converter Pro 1.0
"For the price a decent program, but...."
Pros: Does an excellent job of converting simple PDF pages. Retains perfectly large images and text in single columns. For the price of the program it is adequate. If your going to covert simple text with few images this is the program for you.
Cons: Complex pages like a landscape orientated PDF page with text on one side a chart oopposite the text are too much for this program. It converted the page layout about 85% accurately. But images converted from the same page were very poor quality, almost unrecognizable.
Tried to extract just images from another page and it could not do that at all. However a page with simple large images were converted with text very well.
There are better converters but they cost much more.
It should be noted that the trial only allows to you convert 1 page and that is always page 1. In most PDF documents that would be a simple introduction page. So my advice is if you want to really test this program find a PDF page that is complex with many images on it to get a real feel for what it can and cant do.

Version: Docsmartz PDF Converter Pro 1.5
"Sort of works but activation is ridiculous"
Pros: It worked reasonably well with text only, but often would give some really weird results; lots of text boxes instead of a simple word document; weird html-like pages, text box for each line, etc. It may technically be a "word document," but it sure is hard to edit. If I didn't need to edit it I wouldn't need the program.
Cheap.
Cons: The activation process is ridiculous. The key you get works only once! Since I am constantly revamping my hard drive, I had to email them five times for activation. The last 2 times they simply ignored me, so I looked around and found a program that, while it cost twice as much, has worked flawlessly!
I want my money back!

"Docsmartz gives Excellent Value for Money"
Pros: DocSmartz PDF Converter software gives great value for money with it being the most attractively priced software in its category. DocSmartz is priced at less than one-third of comparable products in its category for a single user license. The vendor has released an advanced version of this software. The option of volume licensing is also available for multiple user licenses.
Support
The vendor offers excellent support over email as well voice support with issues like product activation being dealt with promptly. The product site offers lot of information on many technical aspects. The software delivers on what it actually promises on its product website.
Features and Performance
In terms of performance DocSmartz PDF Converter gives reasonable performance with completely error free conversions of simple PDF files. The speed and accuracy of conversions is very good with very large PDF files being converted, edited and reconverted with in a matter of minutes. What is appreciable is that the original formatting was retained with large images also being retained perfectly.
The Extract Images option in DocSmartz allows you to extract images from a PDF file if it contains images. You can also specify the image format for the extracted images. You can choose to have images in the same format as your original source images or select from popular formats like BMP, JPG, PNG, TIFF, PCX, and PSD. PDF to Word or .rtf conversion is available in 9 different languages.
The software does not impact on the functioning of other programs during conversion process.
Conclusion
This software is one the most competitively priced product in its category and has great features.
