I'm still not able to hear MP3 audio in any of my AVI files when played thru QuickTime 6.3. I was made to believe otherwise. -

Proper playback of DivX MP3 audio files without any need for conversion. No thanks to Apple, and their total unwillingness to correct this long-standing bug. -

The installer crashed for me too... then I put the installer in the startup disk and it worked fine. -

"Works fine, too bad about the cost"
Version: DivX 5.0.5

Works fine, handles video encoding better than 3ivx, and packs it into a nice cross-platform avi (tho it has its limitations) container... and all with a nice, useable interface... The only real downside is the cost of divx pro, as its $20 plus another $6 for the mp3 encoder (necessary or you'll only have access to 4:1 IMA compression). Finally, the mac version is pretty much on-par with its pc-cousin... -

This by far the best avi decoder ,out for the mac 9. 0r X.The only othere one that came close was divx doc,and that hasn't updated in close to a year. -
"Nice"

With all the free video codecs available in OS X, I'm surprised to find that none quite fit as well as this one. ffmpegx refuses to work on most of the files I try to encode, 3ivX is just all-around not that good, and apple's mpeg4 encoder has too few options, especially with bitrate.
I will say, however DivX has what is probably the most confusing and annoying registration and activation process I've ever seen. -

I'd still prefer the other, better, freer codecs....this just doesn't cut it.
