Version: Diskeeper 2009
"Good defragmenter"
Pros: keeps hard drives defragmented without you needing to manualy do it, I-FAAST rearanges files on your hard drive so the most commonly accessed files are placed on the fastest parts, Fragsheild keeps your MFT from getting fragmented
Cons: -constant hard drive activity might decrease hard drive life span?
Summary: Microsoft should definately take some notes for Windows 7 from this program. defrags in the background without a noticeable performance hit, and you don't need to manually defrag. its great.
-I-FAAST still not reporting gains after a week of use.

Hard Drive is active almost all the time from boot-up to shut-down because everything is stored in there. Even if the core parts of the OS are loaded onto the primary Memory ie RAM, we still access the hard drive for the files, the browser constantly stores cookies/temporary files onto the hard drive, browser cache is stored onto the hard drive, OS logging, and lots of others. there's no evidence to prove it either.
Microsoft already partnered with Executive Software Int'l ie the new Diskeeper Corporation in developing the default windows Disk Defragmenter but I'm yet to check the Windows 7 fragmenter to see if they've updated it to use the InvisiTasking Technology. I guess they haven't cuz the copyright notice on a windows xp machine defragmenter says 2001. So the partership might've ended or is limited. Let's hope it didn't :)
