    Version: Diskeeper 2007

    "diskeeper but not bootkeeper"

by massalama on December 10, 2006

Pros: i like it when it run, perhaps it is the best, but.....

Cons: it take about 4 minutes to let your pc start when you boot it. the staf are going crazy? It's impossible for me to accept that my pc start after a long cup of tea. For me it 'is a very big bug for a software like that. Until they not resolve this problem for my the only place for the softaware is to rest in the cellophane. It's a mistake because the rest is superbe. I'm waiting for godd new to change my mind in 5 stars, but not now!

I try and buy the last version of DSK ProPremier (703) for XP and Vista OS, and now the boot time is really OK and no annoing waiting time. The job of defragmentation is do very well. I think that all work good. The only thing that I've notice is that DSK lead sometime to forget the setting that you have choose for external HDD. I hope also that the update service really give the update free for an acceptable time, until now, after 1 month I've no update to install. The price is also not cheap, the company may take an afford to get it down.

and all the probs you mentioned, so tech-support upgraded me to Pro-edition. I now boot-up 48 processes in 40-45 seconds (from restart to taskbar) and 20-25 from coldstart. I plan to upgrade to ProPremier! I also found tech-support in CA responded fast compared to UK!

I have diskeeper 2007 which runs in the backgrond at startup. I just timed how long it takes for my computer to boot up from a full shutdown. With 50 running processes, total boot time is one minute 15 seconds.

The cnet staff must have made a mistake or possibly had the "run boot-time defragmentation option turned on - which is totally unnecessary.

I run Diskeeper 2007 in the background as part of 52 processes according to the task manager. (the printer/fax takes four, AOL takes five, Trend Micro is another five)

I set Diskeeper 2007 so it only scans when I want to run it - which is about once a week. It works perfectly and does not cause any slowdown in boot time from either a shutdown of XP or a hibernate of XP.

Look at my other posts on the subject. Total boot time when I shut off XP = about 1 minute and 15 seconds. From hibernate it is about 45 seconds.

I use diskeeper 2007 which is part of my start up programs. My total time to reboot from total shutdown is 1 minute 15 seconds. From hibernate it is 45 seconds. I think they made a major typo.

100% same situation with me on my fresh WinXPPro/IE7 installation - fortunately I wait 90 sec only. Saw simillar posts on forums. Found no remedy on the net so far (???). DK TechSupport does not reply. Once DK2007 loads - does great job.
