Version: DiskInternals Boot CD 1.1
"Requires a 992 MEGAbyte download to function"
Pros: Don't know. Might be pretty good if you don't mind downloading an extra gigabyte of stuff that you otherwise would not need to get it to work.
Cons: You have top download a 992 MEGAbyte Vista AIK for this software to work. That's ridiculous. Why not just give the option of going with XP instead of Vista? I tried downloading what the installation software said was required from the developer's website, but that still wasn't enough. The program wouldn't get beyond a certain point unless I downloaded the 992 MB AIK from Microsoft. Without a help file with the program or on the author's website, you will be left scratching your head when all is said and done. It's much easier to go to the author's website and download the completed iso file at 109 megabytes than it is to download the 992 MB and build it yourself. Makes no rational sense.

Version: DiskInternals Boot CD 1.1
Cons: You can skip the 992 MB download if you have a Vista CD, but even then it doesn't find all the files needed to make the boot CD.

Version: DiskInternals Boot CD 1.1
Pros: The program is and excellent demo of what it is capable of.
STILL USABLE: It will allow you to EXIT to DOS.Cons: It would be nice to have a one day trial to work with the FULL program so one decide if they want to spend the $$ for further use. Could be done just by registering it with time trial embedded.
Summary: It allowed me to access a non-bootable drive and make repairs. This of this DEMO program saved my bacon in a very short time after other boot media failed. It took a lot of time for someone to develop, so please don't complain if it is not freeware.... read more

"version 1.2 DEBUG not 1.1 and it doesn't work either"
Pros: None. Nada. No redeeming value. Zero. Useless.
Cons: The download was "DiskInternals Boot CD 1.2 DEBUG_VERSION ! NO_..." not version 1.1. Further, even though there was an option for Windows XP Home or Professional, it proceeded as if Vista had been selected. Why is CNET offering DEBUG software?
Summary: The CNET entry is mislabeled, and misleading, if other commenters are correct that this is a Demo program and not an actual free working program. However, I could not get far enough into the program to know what it is. read more

Version: DiskInternals Boot CD 1.1
"connected to Windows XP and retrieve the Info I needed."
Pros: Waht I like about this software is that it is the only one that allowed me to get into my windows XP system, even though I could not boot up to it. With Active boot disk I was able to determine why I couldn't but to my Laptop.
Cons: I was unable to delete the bad partition and reformat it.
Summary: The bottom line is that I was able to determine the cause of my laptop problem and it is repaired and working fine now. read more
