"Life Saver11"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.10.915
Pros
The best 15 bucks I've spent. DiskDigger saved my bacon and restored a whole day of hundreds of images on a corrupted CF card. I now consider it an essential right along with things like extra batteries.
Cons
None that I have found. Works great!!

"simple utility to reveals residual disk data."
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.8.793
Pros
it can reveal files on the disk that cannot otherwise be recovered via conventional undeleting / recovery utilities
Cons
doesn't have the ability to sort its scan by filename.
doesn't have the ability to actually restore the data it dug up
user interface is a little archaic / mechanical.Summary
its worth a try if you want to see / find data that can only be retrieved by high tech forensic disk data retrieval utilities.
incidentally, i only used the trial versoin. it is unclear what the paid version provides.
it might also be use to help ensure that there is no unwanted data on the disk after formatting or re-partitioning or disk wiping,

"better than any known freeware and the cost is cheap"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.5.533

Cons
none that i can find
Summary
reliable and cheap. Found everything I lost on my SD card. I seached for mp3 , jpg and avi files.

"Lifesaver!"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.5.519
Pros
easy to use, free, works very well, cheapest file recovery software i have found so far (if you want to register and buy/donate),
Cons
can't do to many files at once or sometimes freezes, annoying license key popup - but still free!
Summary
truley a lifesaver, i searched all over the internet for a free data recovery software and finally found what i was looking for.
most of the other data recovery software i found was $35 and over to use!
Diskdigger is FREE, though has a key license popup that appears for every save. If you want that to go away its only the low price of $14, -

"Great for retrieving image files"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.4.479
Pros
Retrieved 99% of lost .jpg and .bmp files
Preview of image files
FreeCons
Could not successfully retrieve large files (presumably segmented) most problematic were pdfs.
No preview of non-image files
UI a little confusing at first.Summary
A virus trashed one of our machines and in the process removed backup directories and links to shared documents - photographs and bitmaps drawings, along with some pdf AV manuals. I tried several more expensive tools but balked when I found that I couldn't prove that any would work before purchasing. I decided to try this, at least to demonstrate that the files could be seen and restored in some fashion.
I didn't expect much to be honest but, after a few missteps in my understanding of the UI it turned out fine - retrieved all the lost image files perfectly.
I docked this one star - though it should be a half, because of the problems with pdf files - it finds them OK but has problems being able to re-assemble larger ones, the lack of a preview function for pdfs aggravates this minor annoyance.
I've seen crashes reported and did experience a couple when trying to manipulate extremely large files - not really crashes but hangs.
Speed seems fine - I scanned a 200Gb drive for deleted image files and pdfs in around under two hours.
Definitely a good starting point for someone with a similar problem to mine - this should show up higher in CNET's own searches - I was eventually directed to it via another site! -
"Great job recovering corrupt SD contents"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.4.479
Pros
I had a corrupt 1GB SD with 400+ images I need to recover. I used a trial version of a more popular program but it wanted $100 to recover.
I then downloaded DiskDigger and for $15 it was able to recover all the files.Cons
If you try and use the free version it will prompt you for each file it recovers. Pay the $15 donation. It's well worth it!
Summary
Liked the fact that it could recover files from a corrupt disk.
Seems to do what the bigger programs do but a fraction of the cost. -
"past use of program good"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.2.417
Pros
great for finding lost files
Cons
none as yet
Summary
recovery works as indicated
-
"Best software EVER!"
Version: DiskDigger 1.0.1.355
Pros
Ease of use, small footprint, successful recovery!
Cons
Hard to find instructions, but really didn't NEED them.
Summary
One of my students accidentally reformatted her SD card with pictures of her son's graduation. She contacted me in tears thinking they were lost forever. I did a little "digging" and found this software and sent it to her. It WORKED!! She was able to retrieve all of the pictures and is now crying tears of happiness instead of frustration!
