"Very good"

i have been using this app ever since OS X 10.1 and i have found it to be very useful. I have over 500 cd/dvd's of back up data and this little gem allows me to find anything in secconds.
what i might like to see in future, perhaps a Spotlight plugin for it might be useful to search it from finder.
or an automator script to scan media after it has been burned -

Not sure what  mpbritt  is talking about. You can clearly catalog many DVD-R's ina single catalog window. What's the problem ? -
"Solid"
Version: DiskCatalogMaker 3.5b3
Summary

This is an excellent disk catalog program. It is VERY simple to use and very fast. One feature that it posse's that many of it's competitors do not is the ability to catalog a folder not just discs (this can be very useful). There are several programs on the market that catalog disks. DiskCatlogMaker, Disk Tracker, CD Finder are all solid and have been around (OSX around) for some time. It bothers me that CatFinder took so long to go to OSX and it still seems to missing a lot of features. Stick with this one or check out Disk Tracker. My two cents. -
"CATFINDER much better"

Have tried this extensively but still prefer the classic CATFINDER by Keith Turner. He's just updated it to OS X in September 2004 as well, so 10 years of development can't go wrong as far as seeing what your customers actually want and need... a cataloguer that is bloody simple and super quick. -
"Good, fast and simple."

Does just what it needs to and nothing it doesn't. My only complaint is the way a catalog window will pop up a path menu when you just click on the name in the title bar. This is a great feature, but it should only happen when the command key is pressed. There is a reason why the Finder works this way, and DiskCatalogMaker should do likewise. Apart from that, this is an excellent little program.
Perhaps best of all, it is NOT from Haxial, so it has a real gui.

"multiple find"
Version: DiskCatalogMaker 3.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Although the program does what it says (catlog's a disk) I noticed a bug where the "find" menu was grayed out, yet I was able to hit the 'command-f' and the find dialouge appeared. But my biggest suggestion is to incorporate a multiple find so you could enter "Big" and "Blue" to fine a file called "Blue Big Box" - otherwise you have to know the Exact name of the file you are searching for.
I'm marking this as "not recommend" only because of this. If you are looking for a simple catalog program this may work for you. -
"Feature suggestions"

Perhaps you could implement a feature which would allow you to type in catalog window and get you to the disc you are after? As an example, I catalog all my discs in a serial order (001-999) and it would be useful if I could type in '439' and get to that disc entry. Maybe the PgUp/PgDn, Home and End keys could also be implemented here. Otherwise, I'm a very happy user of this software. -
"Some Data DVDs catalog very slowly..."
Version: DiskCatalogMaker 3.2b1
Summary

...like 4 or 5 mins (this is normal with most disk cataloging utilties) But some, with just as much data, catalog in a matter of seconds, just like CDs.
Any thoughts here?
Love it though! -

"Have depended on DCM for some time"
Version: DiskCatalogMaker 3.0.4
Summary

Works great. Worth $18. I would encourage the author to pay attention to the suggested improvements in the reviews here. I agree that they will make it better. I did not figure out that you could edit a volume name until this version (apple-i the name). This quick key also lets you edit the icon... with built in icons. Maybe a simple manual. I am also mildly annoyed that it doesnt sort properly CD 1, CD10, CD 02, CD20 sort in that order. I also want a "notes" field.
More than anything i want to be able to find file names with multiple criterion. That is find a file whose name contains "Toy" and "Story" and ".mp3" but not necessarily in that order and with other text inbetween. Hope that makes sense.
Another way to solve the same problem is to be able to select & search-selected the results of previous searches. Right now it simply crashes when you do that.
But all in all, i really appreciate the work you have done and highly recommend it.
