"Disclabel offers the best templates."
Version: DiscLabel 6.2.2
Pros
It works well with my Mac and iTunes. I really like the tutorials. I receive many compliments for my projects, and questions - "How did you do this?"
Cons
I did have to contact tech support to have a problem addressed, but it was addressed in a timely manner.
Summary
You won't find better templates anywhere else.

"A good label design utility at a reasonable price"
Version: DiscLabel 6.2.2
Pros
It's very easy to use and has some useful templates included. Importing graphics is straight forward, and it seems stable in Snow Leopard. There are a good variety of printing templates available that work well without much fuss.
Cons
I would like to see improved handling of data and titles for archival of file based backups, and not just playlist oriented lists. It would be nice to have nested folder content visible as well. A few of the template designs are a little cheesy.
Summary
For simple design and backup organization DiskLabel will work well. The templates are useable, although some of them are a little bit cheesy, but you can implement your own design and save it as a template for future use. The lack of data based listed and listing nested folder content is a drawback for me as many of the disks I need labels for are backups of files for clients. There is a program called UncoverIt that does this, but does not have the functionality of design as elegantly implemented. Overall DiskLabel is a good software package for the price, and support at SmileOnMyMac is good, as well as development. For quick and easy CD/DVD design and content layout, it's a been a time saver. Short of using professional design and layout software for critical applications, it's a go-to for me.

"Excellent support"
Version: DiscLabel 5.3

I agree with Craigmramsay, I used a free earlier version of this software given with a labelmaker for many years, when they discontinued their product I went searching for alternatives and settled on the current version of Disclabel. Living in Australia, the page sizes are different to the US, I sent the sizing details for a widely available label to support, they sent me back a template within 24hrs. That is great customer service and without hesitation I recommend this product - by far and away the best label making software on the Mac. -
"Good Software, Great customer service"
Version: DiscLabel 5.3

You may already have a free program from a specific label maker for making DVD or CD labels and covers for your burned disc media. If you are happy with them then great. I used to use one of those free software programs also and it did a fair job. It was limited to that brandsâ?? labels and a few of the big brand common labels but did not offer a good selection of other options for labels. I am a Mac user and I love the operating system, but sometimes you are limited by what software is available.
However, if you are a Mac user and want a bigger selections of labels or printable media, more flexibility and greater creative freedom with some really special feature then I have a recommendation for you, â??DiscLabelâ??!
DiscLabel is a software by SmileOnMyMac, http://www.smileonmymac.com/DiscLabel/index.html . This software is very easy to use and very flexible. DiscLabel imports the iTunes track list and iTunes track information into your label design. It allows you to design and print your label while your CD or DVD is burning! You can browse your iPhoto library, and DiscLabel places the chosen picture from iPhoto into your jewel case insert design. You can also Import original cover are and labels from the internet to use on your labels.
DiscLabel also does LightScribe design. For those of you who are not familiar with LightScribe. LightScribe drives can burn your data onto your disc and then, using the same laser, burn a precise, iridescent label design on to the special media. It can make some really very beautiful images.
DiscLabel allows you to create CD/DVD labels, DVD Covers, CD Jewel Case Covers, CD Jewel Case Tray inserts, CD Jewel Case Booklets, CD Slimline Jewel Case Inserts, CD Spine, CD Core, DVD Booklets, Slimline DVD Covers, Mini CD, Business Card CD, Super Jewel Box CD insert Front and Rear Covers, Super Jewel Box DVD Insert Booklet, Super Jewel Box DVD Insert Front and Read Covers, VHS Spine, VHS Wrap, VHS Face, Blu-ray Cover and Blu-ray Booklet. DiscLabel supports labels from 65 different media makers and almost 400 different labels. As you can see it give you a lot of media options and flexibility.
However, I have not told you the best yet. I had a DVD project that needed to look professional and classy. I had to use glossy labels I bought the labels recommended by my free software and could not print out the labels. It looked like and my old software did not support the medial that they recommended and sold. I called their support and they could not help. The software had not had an update for over 2 years and they were not planning to do one. I was really mad!
I started checking around on the internet and found a few labels programs for Mac. DiscLabel allowed you to try it before you buy it. They also said that they would look at formating other labels for their software if requests were made. So, I decided to try it. The DiscLabel indicated that it supported the labels that I need to use for this project. Before I bought the software I contacted the support department for DiscLabel via e-mail to inquire about the forms I needed. They responded within a few hours. I was amazed as how quick and helpful they were. Especially when I had not even bought their software yet. They told me that they would look at the form and if it was not already in their vast supply of existing supported forms the would be willing to format it.
Once I bought the software and attempt to print out the labels again, they did not print. I contact support again via e-mail. Again they were very fast and again responded within 2 hours. They resolved the problem in less then a day and I was happily printing labels for my project.
DiscLabel costs US $35.95 and is worth every penny. -

"Great interface, poor results"
Version: DiscLabel 5
Pros
The interface is simple, elegant and intuitive. Creating custom designs, repurposing an existing layout, or simply using the ou0t-if-box templates is a breeze. A breeze until you have to print them...
Cons
The label-specific templates are not correct at all. Though the software provides a means of adjusting left to right and up and down in order to correct any misalignment printer-to-printer, none of the measurements is reliable. In fact, once you've got a copy to finally print correctly, the very next can be centimeters off. Darned shame...

"Missleading..."
Version: DiscLabel 4.1.1
Cons
specifically says there are no limitations for this download that is NOT true...
1. it prints DEMO on anything you print and
2. warns if you print more than 20 times or work with more than 30 files you'll be forced to purchase.
I don't have a problem with this at all, but don't mislead users when they download thinking they'll get a 30 day "no limitations" trial version.

"demoed the product"
Version: DiscLabel 4.1.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well, I tried the Disclabel 4.1.2 and the lightscribe part is a little different, but usable. It worked, although it's a little strange, rather than a burn button, it's a click print button and then the program finds the burner and burns the lightscribe DVD or CD. Rather cool except for the Demo burned onto the DVD I have. Considering purchasing it. Lots of templates and help menu is good so far. -
"Best thing since sliced bread!"
Version: DiscLabel 3.3.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I burn a lot of CDs and after trying other labelling software, I have found disclabel to be the best. I like the fact that I can easily get info from iTunes and my photo applications and everything works so effortlessly. Designing CD jewel case covers is a breeze. I have frequently been complimented on the "professional looking" end result. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this product. -
"works for me..."

i've been using the NEATO version of disclabel for over a year. I design my own templates and they print beautifully on an Epson 2200. I just wish the type interface was easier to use. it's sometimes difficult to highlight and delete text.
Otherwise, no complaints. Smile software gets my vote!
