"No Way to Use This With Dropbox"

    November 26, 2013  |   By schwaber

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.22

    Pros

None - Karens Directory Printer is WAAYYYY easier to use and actually works.

    Cons

I keep my active files in Dropbox. Dropbox installed itself on my desktop. This program has absolutely no way (that I can find, maybe it's just the lack of instructions that is terrible) to access anything on my desktop. Therefore, I cannot print out a directory of my Dropbox contents with this program and thus this program is useless.

I have been using Karens Directory Printer up to now (and will continue to do so). I was just looking for features missing in that program, but at least that program works...

FWIW, I am running Win XP SP3. Long Live XP.

    Summary

    Useless for Dropbox users.

    "Not enough instructions?"

    May 16, 2013  |   By rj-work

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.18

    Pros

Not sure - I think I only ran it once but with little idea of how/what it was supposed to do. (But I did get some sort of a tree printout.)

    Cons

Not enough instructions! Are there options for full tree, tree from top down to a given level, or from mid tree down to the bottom?

    Summary

I thought I'd already reviewed this? Perhaps it was the previous version, but the C-Net review/s have never answered the above queries.

"Can't say yet but looks good."

    April 17, 2013  |   By rj-work

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.16

    Pros

Tried to use recently but couldn't be sure of whether u could just select just parts of the tree to print so didn't do it. Still it looks good and has lots of good reviews so either the help wasn't enuf or I'm a bit stupid?

    Cons

I'm still not sure if/how u can choose everything in a path DOWN to a given folder, either from the root level or from some lower level in the tree; OR starting at the given folder then listing some/all folders BELOW that point in that leg of the tree? In other words how flexible is it? Help needs improving?

    Summary

At present I've put off using it because of the above uncertainty - I don't want to print a HUGE tree when I only want a part of it. Any help on this please? RJ.

"Best I've used for this utility, hands-down"

    February 5, 2012  |   By syordy

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.12.1.1

    Pros

Compact, fast, thorough, lots of options, multiple export formats, and free. Simply the best. Plus for small jobs, the Copy to Clipboard option is great.

    Cons

Doesn't work on Network Drives because it needs a physical drive map to find the directory. So if I'm working on a server for work, I have to map the drive first, run the program, then un-map the drive. Not a big deal at all; just the only Con I can think of!

    Summary

    This is the one!

    "Cannot choose sub directories level"

    February 2, 2012  |   By heritage972

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.12.1.1

    Pros

    Quick and easy

    Cons

Under 2. Selection, if "loop sub directories" is checked the "Levels" box is inactive (grayed out). Anyone know how to limit the level please post.

    Summary

Not useful for me unless I can limit the sub directory level.

"Simple, direct, fast, with excellent export options"

    November 14, 2011  |   By syordy

Version: Directory List & Print Pro 2.11.9.1

    Pros

I have to get long lists of file directories and subfolders in my work and this is the best tool for doing it. The export to Excel feature is especially nice as it avoids the usual export to text/csv and reopen in Excel steps in most other utilities. Plus it's a very small footprint on my machine. Loads fast, runs fast. Easy to remove and reinstall if necessary. And Free!

    Cons

Only beef is it seems to launch Excel in another version than what I have so that if I have an Excel file already open, it's almost like I have two Excel programs running instead of just two Excel windows open in one program. Not really a con...just kind of an oddity.

    Summary

This is the one. Search no more.
