I installed it on Windows 7 and the setup program could not copy or modify some files, but the program worked seemingly okay.

I could not raise the volume in Windows 7, but maybe I did something wrong.

The volume worked when I tried again. The keyboard shortcuts are cumbersome: Alt-R to Rewind, Alt-F to forward, etc. I prefer a one button shortcut such as F10 to play, F11 to pause, and some keyboard combination for the less frequently used functions. I could not modify the Audio Setup from within the program in Windows 7. I do not think it has a menu to modify the shortcuts. The window could be made less tall to give more space to the document window above (there are some buttons that can be reduced in height. The interface from Sony for its digital dictation software is better: smaller, has file split and combine buttons, and several other functions. The name of the program once installed is Legal Easy Digital Transcription.

For others just look at the menus and choose the correct one.
That program is a sound editor and player and is great for typing while you listen to the sound files. It has play, pause, rewind, forward, mute, single click increase of the volume, buttons to slow or increase the speed, split and join files, etc. It can work with Dragon Naturally Speaking for transcriptions and can convert Wav files to MP3. It uses an uncommon extension (dvf) and there is a free player available for it too. The program can be used in full size view or in simple player mode (small size). It is great for transcribing in single player mode. It comes with Sony digital voice recorders. -
"It works but, I can't uninstall it"

Won't show up in add or remove programs. or other uninstall programs. Firewall tells me it's trying to access the internet, even after removing the program file from C:drive.
Summary
It works but I dont trust it, I can't uninstall it. It slowed my pc down. I may have to wipe the hard drive to rid my pc of it. Not worth the trouble! If I would have known it was written by a attorney, I wouldn't have downloaded it.

When comparing it to BigHand <a href="http://www.bighand.com/">Digital dictation</a> software which is used by a lot of lawyers and hospitals across the US & Canada it seems pretty basic. These days BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and iPhone dictation are a must

"Records from the mic"

It's simple to use, even if you're not a lawyer or something. I got to the recording feature easily, I was able to record voices without a hitch, and the sound quality, even if a bit poor, served the purpose.
If you're looking for a freeware that could record from the mic, download this one.

I've been looking all over for something to slow down recorded speech for a Spanish class -- it's hard to tell where one word ends and the next one begins. This thing works! It's small and fast and easy to use.
Cons
No complaints about the software. I still can't understand Spanish, though...

I haven't really used it yet, but a prelimary try out. It was able to find my microphone and allowed me to record wav files to a known configurable location. Filename appears to be based on the time in 24 hr format. Windows XP SP2 here, FYI.
Cons
The filename would be better if it included the date; ie; instead of just 224430.wav, something like: 20060329224430.wav for those of you that can't figure this out it would represent: March 29,2006 @22:44:30.
