    "PLTHHT - Not worth it"

    January 4, 2014  |   By GambitSix

Version: Digital Clock Screen Saver 1.01

    Pros

It is indeed a clock screensaver.

    Cons

Boring. Looks and feels like someone put this together just to say they did it, no aesthetics whatsoever. Lots of junky add ons that take over your browser with no option to say no when installing.

    Summary

I've come to trust CNet, which led me to let my guard down when downloading this trash. Since this product is so old, maybe CNet thought nobody would be dumb enough to download it. Either way, it has renewed my conviction to trust, but verify.

"Great Clock, but don't download it here"

    August 18, 2013  |   By davo1958

Version: Digital Clock Screen Saver 1.01

    Pros

    Great plain old digital clock

    Cons

Here on Cnet downloading adds same really sleazy ad ons you don't want. Really surprized to find this crud on Cnet, changes your search and ads junk tool bars that will take you an hour or two of hard work to get rid of.

    Summary

You can find the clock on other sites with out getting stuck with the sleazy crud. It's not a virus, but is harder to get rid of than many. Malwarebytes can't even get rid of all of it, you still have to go in and manually delete sames files. What up Cnet? This Sux! I can trust you anymore.

    "Too Many Add-ons To Negotiate"

    August 2, 2013  |   By AnnieOccident

Version: Digital Clock Screen Saver 1.01

    Pros

It's a screensaver that's a clock. Who doesn't want a giant clock display when pc is idle?

    Cons

    Skeevy-looking add-ons

    Summary

Installer process proves itself untrustworthy in that it disguises add-on wares as TOS that must be accepted to install. I hit cancel and read reviews. Glad I did, I don't have the time/patience to research risk or repair breaches.

"Tries to redirect browser and search! Avoid!"

    May 16, 2013  |   By maryyugo

Version: Digital Clock Screen Saver 1.01

    Pros

Works OK. Kind of ugly. Make sure it moves around the screen OK when properly set up to do so. I would definitely do this. I forgot once with another clock screensaver (it was a Russian MIG-15 clock face) and in a few weeks it had burned my LCD display permanently. It faded with time but not completely.

    Cons

Important! Tries to load an adware toolbar. If you choose automated setup, it loads it without your consent. This piece of crap is especially difficult and nasty to remove. If you do get stuck with the malware, you can probably remove it with ADWCLEANER or get more help here: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-sweetpacks-toolbar/

    Summary

Best as I can remember, this loads "Sweetpacks". I'm not certain because I went around that part of the install and I don't remember for sure but the comments below apply to that particularly unpleasant piece of trash (anyway as it was in 4/2013) and others like it:

The program is useful but unattractive and without EXTREME precautions, loads a scumbag tool bar which can be extremely difficult and time consuming to remove and which totally redirects all your searches, changes your home page and otherwise tries to make your computer useless. Unless you are a very expert installer and plan to take your time and read EVERY screen and are prepared to spend time removing scumware/adware browser redirection and hijacking, do NOT use this. Unfortunately, I suspect this now applies to almost everything from cnet.com. I don't know what got into these people. Some of these hijack programs should be ILLEGAL! Authors should be in JAIL! The first clue to trouble is that cnet requires it's own installer with an *.EXE file. Avoid.

    Updated on Sep 18, 2013

I am very suspicious that the good reviews were written by the same sleeze bags who added the malware to the program. DO NOT INSTALL THIS CRAP !!!
