  It's nice when there's that rare regularly used word you just can't seem to remember how to spell, e.g. harrass, guarantee, friend, weird (goes against i before e, et. al.)

  I don't like the uselessness of the program for anyone who is trying to write a high level grad paper, or write on a doctoral level. It's bad enough that MS Word has limited words, but at least you can add those for spelling purposes, but for looking up words? I found it worked about 1 in every 20 times (words I needed to have defined) I tried it. I eventually uninstalled it. I'm much better off just having a separate window with dictionary.com open or, even better, using the dictionary.com toolbar and then cut and pasting. Tooltip is simply too limited to help those who need to have a vast vocabulary or risk the wrath of those judging your dissertation. I am not a pedant, nor do I want this to come across as pedantic, but throw words like obloquy, pizzle, palliate, alopecoid, et. al. at this programs and you find you just wasted the 10 seconds you could have spent finding much more simply by using the Dictionary.com toolbar.

  Dictionary tooltip is an excellent extension for firefox that makes firefox more competetive and first user's choice. I am indeed very happy to check the meanings of a word immediatetly after encountering it instead of exploring any dictionary site.

• Quick, easy to use dictionary in two clicks!

  Pros

  It's very handy especially when typing something (like a reasearch paper) and you need to find out what a word means. It combines the power of tons of dictionary/thesaures with two clicks of your mouse.

  If you accidentally double click after a word the dictionary thing will pop up. It's just a minor nuisance.

  It's great for english students like me. Eeasy to use, gives synonyms ,related Words, antonyms, examples, aplications, etc. Very complete. It is free and has no advertising.

  Pros

  Really streamlines things when you need a definition of something you just don't know off of a website. Even has encyclopedia entries for people, events, etc.

  Cons

  Well, it is rather annoying to always have it find the definition when I double click, so if I were just double-clicking to maybe copy and past a word, it would pop-up still. Maybe a variation where if you hit ctrl before you double-click it will define the word, and otherwise it's normal. But anyway, I'd say the good definitly outweighs the slight annoyance.
