    "DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM"

    April 16, 2013  |   By Dave_on_Cnet

    Version: Dictation Pro 0.91

    Pros

    NONE
    Does not work on XP.

    Cons

Sadly I'm to blame for not noticing that you need Vista for this program. I have no idea if the program is any good. But the two programs that hitched a ride on it are malicious, at least on an XP system. Along without learning that my system was not compatible until after the installation was (incomplete), GetSavin and InfoAtoms also downloaded. CNET did not warn me this was happening during the install. Those two (some may think Virus) snoopers caused repeated crashes until 'Advanced System Care' from IObit got rid of them. I'm not endorsing IObit, but I'm at about 99%. If you have these critters on your computer get ASC directly from IOBit, not through CNET. CNET most likely is an unwitting partner, but there download helper needs major work. ... continue in Summery below...

    Summary

Had the load helper checked my system and there database up front they could have warned me that the program was incompatible and strongly warned against continuing. Oh Boo Hoo, but consider how many times you forgot something and regret it. Malware after all counts on it. The (CNET) program once written never forgets. I'll be writing a lot more about this in the general discussion form.
In Summery Look for and delete GetSavin and InfoAtoms if you find them. They don't show up in Windows list of programs. You'll need to up your game to locate them. Both have been flagged as Malware on the Net. CNET should have known this and warned down-loaders when they were trying to hitch a ride.

"Just ok - can't teach it some words"

    December 13, 2012  |   By cm_duran

    Version: Dictation Pro 0.91

    Pros

    recognizes most common words.

    Cons

Does not recognize proper names or unusual words. Has a training routine that doesn't work. No matter how many times you add a word, it still translates it as wrong.

    Summary

If you need a clean document it's pretty much useless - you can write it by hand quicker than you can go back and correct all the mistakes - but if you are just making notes, the text is mostly decipherable.

    "Sounds great but not XP."

    September 16, 2011  |   By sjrpnelson

    Version: Dictation Pro 0.9

    Pros

Review sounds great for free voice recognition ie not just a tape recorder as most are. But ....

    Cons

What % of us still use XP? Seems a lot of potential downloads lost.

    Summary

So, can or will anyone tell us if or when an XP version may or will be available. Are they working on it or have they definitely decided the XP market is not worth servicing. Seems a lot of potential market lost. Why don't cNet or the publisher comment on this on the review page?
