"Powerful tool for multi-taskers"
Version: Dexpot 1.6.7 Build 2249
Pros
Dexpot is highly configurable, from the number of virtual desktops down to which icons go where. It has excellent visual "bells and whistles", very granular control of applications and desktops, and a variety of convenient switching methods. Appearance and behavior can be configured per-desktop, and the system overhead is low.
Cons
There are thirteen pages of configuration options, and all of them are important. Getting it to behave exactly the way you want can take a bit of experimentation. Some applications will automatically override desktop selection. Occasionally the taskbar icon may vanish - be sure you have a keyboard shortcut configured for switching.
Summary
If you've used a Linux desktop switcher be prepared to be surprised; this software is made for organizing computers, not just expanding screen acreage.

"Great product for the money(free!)"
Version: Dexpot 1.6.5 Build 2207
Pros
Very useful specially for people doing development work to have multiple desktops each dedicated for specific tasks or projects. Works smoothly.
Cons
Have not used long enough to stumble into any gotchas.

"Killer app"
Version: Dexpot 1.6.2 Build 2143
Pros
I finally get the functionality I have come to expect on my Linux box, on those rare occasions when I am forced to use Windows. Easy to move windows between desktops (you can create custom key combinations or use the built-in ones to complete these types of tasks). For those complaining about their desktop shortcuts, here's a solution: right-click desktop->view->uncheck 'Show desktop icons'. Desktop shortcuts are a performance drain anyway.
Cons
The desktop preview box tends to wander on my multi-monitor setup, rather than hiding in the bottom right corner where I put it, but that's a very minor thing. This app rocks!
Summary
Great app, and extremely versatile. If you are having problems, make sure you're taking the time to explore all the options and settings. It it's not working how you want/expect then either 1)you're doing something wrong, or 2)you have unrealistic expectations. Want it to act just like a Mac? Use a Mac. This is not designed to emulate a Mac desktop. It's designed to provide some killer extra functionality to an OS that has refused to keep up with current trends. And Microsoft worries why they're constantly losing market share.

"Best I've seen yet"
Version: Dexpot 1.6.1 Build 2121
Pros
Lots of customisability
'Desktop Manager' function
Hot keys for frequent tasks
Relatively low resources
Switch windows to other desktops with easeCons
A few annoying bugs crop up every so often
e.g. inability to drag on the desktop after being active for a while
the occasional desktop crashSummary
This is the best virtual desktop tool I've found for windows so far. The bugs are annoying but if you are willing to put up with them it can save you a lot of time and make tasks far easier to manage.

"Icon disarrangement and no support"
Version: Dexpot 1.5.15 Build 1799
Pros
I liked the ability to have multiple desktops and multiple backgrounds. I liked these aspects of the program. In these respects I would give it possibly 4 or 5 starts. However, the cons caused me to uninstall the program.
Cons
I would spent an half an hour arranging my desktop icons. And every time I either turned Dexpot on or changed desktops, it would automatically rearrange my icons to some other pattern. I tried different settings within Dexpot itself, but to no avail. I installed one program that supposedly would fremember the arrangement of my icons. But it wouldn't work with Dexpot. So then I tried another one that supposedly worked even with virtual desktops. But it too wouldn't work with Dexpot. In addition to this, certain icons would disappear and I would have to go back into the file system to find them and create another shortcut for the desktop. And the icing on the cake was that everytime I tried to email them, the only option I would get was through Hotmail, and every time I tried doing that I got an error message and it would freeze up and I would have to restart my computer.
Summary
I like the program, but until they can fix the bugs and/or be able to show me how I can arrange my icons and it will remember this arrangement and load them as I want them, then I will just have to pass.

"An advanced virtual desktop management system"
Version: Dexpot 1.5.15 Build 1799
Pros
- Having your own set of icons for each desktop
- Having your own wallpaper for each desktop
- Having your own screen saver for each desktop
- Having your own screen resolution for each desktop
and much more!Cons

This software have this feature and a lot of more feature I really like them. -
"Doe's what I want."
Version: Dexpot 1.5.15 Build 1799
Pros
Been following this program for a long time and very often frustrated with it and always uninstalled. Recently I've found that with a little effort from me that the program will do exactly what I want. For me, it's a keeper.
Cons
Seriously I can find no cons of significance, if I take the time to read the instructions and set it up to my liking, no problem.
Summary
Stick with the program. I have found that, if it wasn't working properly, it was my fault. When set up correctly it will respond likewise.
As an after-thought thanks to the guys working on it. -
"possible malware detected"
Version: Dexpot 1.5.14 Build 1777
Pros
Decent preview and switching among multiple desktops
Cons
The "Malwarebytes Anti-malware" utility identified Dexpot as potential malware, labeling it as "PUP.Adware.Downloader".
No way to move windows from one desktop to another.
No way to bring up desktop previews by just moving the mouse to a corner of the screen.Summary
I was looking for a virtual desktop manager that works like "Spaces" on Mac OS Snow Leopard. Specifically, I wanted to set it up so that moving the mouse to the lower right corner would fill the screen with a grid of preview panes for multiple desktops, enabling me to both move windows between them as well as quickly switch to the one that I wanted. While it does have a preview grid, you can't move windows between desktops and you can't set it up to appear when mousing to a corner of the screen.
The "Malwarebytes Anti-malware" utility identified Dexpot as potential malware, labeling it as "PUP.Adware.Downloader". I don't know whether this is very harmful, but removed it for this reason. -
"It does what it says"
Version: Dexpot 1.5.14 Build 1777
Pros
Finaly I can work a little bit like Mac. It is very useful to have two or more different working spaces at a time.
Cons
Nothing to say at the moment.

"Nice simple multi-desktop application"
Version: Dexpot 1.5.13 Build 1721
Pros
Quick and simple to switch desktops, eliminating desktop clutter by avoiding the need to find a window buried under a multitude of others.
Cons
Certain applications can appear on other desktops when in use on one, so if the app is closed on one, it will close on all desktops.
Obviously uses system resources (around 10% more RAM), but a modern PC can cope easily.Summary
Dexpot certainly makes desktop management easier!
