"Shut down my laptop"

Version: Design Intuition 1.5.136

Pros

I downloaded this software and have not been able to use it. As soon as I downloaded it, the software shut down my machine. It was running fine and have not downloaded anything else. I am working no to get it working properly. I had to startup in safe mode and delete these files and remove something it installed in my startup. CNET says it is safe but they need to check again.

"Far too expensive for the little it offers"

Pros

Had a cursory look at it. Initial intent of a woodworking layout program is outstanding.

Cons

Unfortunately, "intent" is where this program still is.

I was hoping for something that would allow me to design my own furniture and outdoor projects. Unfortunately, after searching deeper, I discovered that I wouldn't even be able to "rotate" objects to a degree other than 90. This is fine for shelves, but honestly, how difficult are shelves to begin with?

Then I looked back at their website curious about the price. Sorry, but for what this program currently offers in comparison to some of the less expensive 3D Cad programs, the price point is WAY over the limit that a woodworker or hobbyist would be willing to spend; so much so that I can see most people being turned completely off.

I think it would have made far more sense to build a client base through free/shareware, until the functions required for woodworking design were actually implemented in a program that purports to do just that. In short, an excellent idea once it's actually ready (which it isn't yet) but even then, only at a far-reduced price.

"Fast, Easy to use...Simplicity is Beautiful"

Pros

I first found this product on Apple.com. I use a Windows machine too, so when I found out it was available I had to try it. WOW! It's awesome! Speed in a product such as this is important and bringing 3D to a product under $200.00 is a real feat for any programmer. Now I can spin that table around and look at all sides of it...I feel more comfortable with my design work than ever.

I'd encourage anyone, especially beginners who want to design projects in woodworking to give this software a try. The download is fast, installation is a breeze, and if more software was designed like this, computers would be more pleasant to use.

Cons

I personally did not find anything about the product that I did not like. Except for a couple of user interface issues (right mouse clicks), I was very pleased with the product. I wrote the developer an email and was very surprised with the speed and clarity of his response. Once again, highly recommended piece of software. Everyone can use this product.
