On sale for 40 dollars. Full function.
NO rendering time needed. How do they do it. I have tried all the screen capture programs. Almost wrote a check for 350.00 for a top rated competitor. This is TRULY my software purchase of the year (and last year).
Saves in 720HD .mov which is easy to edit. Just a wonderful product. Might try some of their other products.
Note: People always ask me for computer help. I just record my screen and upload it to GoogleDocs. They have my help whenever they need it. Saves me a trip.

"Pretty good software"

I have a Windows 7 machine with 3GB of ram and the software worked pretty well for me. I was basically looking for something that could record webinars because I had registered for 20 in one week. I had issues with the audio when recording in .flv format, so I switched to .avi and it worked great. I probably recorded like 17 of them in .avi and they all look and sound good. The 1 hour long webinars recorded in .avi came to approximately 100mb each for the videos, which isn't a lot. Bear in mind that the software uses the microphone in your webcam to pick up the audio. Someone else may have figured out another way to pick up the audio but that's how it worked on my computer.

I don't know. I wanted to record an audio visualization with the audio to either .avi or .wmv format. Neither one worked. Maybe I didn't have something set right. But it seems to me, for what they're charging, they should have some automatic settings for doing what I wanted to do. It wasn't covered in their faq. I followed the directions and it didn't work for me.
Cons
No support either.
Summary
I want something that has presets for recording both the audio and the video from audio visualisations in WinAmp and Windows Media Player. This didn't seem to have anything like that.

"Best audio/video screen capture software I've found"

* Works as expected (a lot of these types of programs are based on the same open source code that doesn't work right).
* Has lots of current encoders to choose from. Downloads codecs on demand as necessary.
* Shows audio levels on screen so you can see if your audio is being captured properly.
* This is the first software I've found that flawlessly synced the audio and video over 2.5 minutes.Cons
No apparent option to exclude mouse movements from being captured.
Summary
After trying out software all day long, I am relieved to finally find this program that works as expected. I was afraid I was going to have to write it myself.

I downloaded the free trial. Before I could get it doing what I needed it to time ran out and I was not ready to buy. The uninstall left all the NCH Software folders in Windows\Programs and left hundreds of Registry entries. Had quite a time getting it all cleaned out.

Fairly easy for a non-techie to set up and use. Good screen capture when it works.

1.62 the capture area wouldn't hold, either for video recording or for screenshots. 1.61 does hold the area for video recording but not for screenshots, the capture area slews across the screen when you hit the hotkey.
No support from Debut if you haven't paid extra on top of the licence payment.Summary
Reverted to 1.61, which I only use for screen capture (a live video stream) and use it a lot, but the lack of working screenshot is a real drag, if only it worked as it's supposed to it would be so slick.
If you are going to pay for software, go for one where you get some kind of support included in the price. They're disingenuous insisting on a support fee when they must know their software is buggy. -
"Webcam worked only once, must PAY for SUPPORT, Skip it"

The software can record from the webcam and record as many different formats. (.avi, .wmv, .asf, .mpg, .3gp, .mp4,.mov, .dv, .flv etc...
The software is fairly intuitive - The only time that I went to the manual and help topics is the second time I used it when it failed.
Seems to "screen capture" fairly well.

Doesn't work - The webcam capture worked the first time I ran the software and then on the second launch, failed to find my webcam. I followed the help suggestions including "checking the device manager..." and "re-selecting" the camera under the options menu.
Customer support is worthless. There is no contact email. There is no phone number for support. In fact, when you fill out a service ticket, if you haven't paid for support, the file is discarded - and thus you have wasted more time. I reported a bug and was the automatic help desk offered me the next version. SO - I have been disappointed by 2 versions : 1.63 and 1.64.
Neither version worked for me after the initial time. Most of the support options keep asking for you to purchase support. If you read the support details they are sketchy as well. They speak of 10 minute support time limits to address email support.Summary
Not sure why CNET rated this so highly. I was really looking forward to using this program and was looking at their other products, but have decided against it. I am running a brand new machine, with windows 7, and a 6 month old HP web cam. Drivers are all up to date.
Program just doesn't work. I would skip it.

2. Uncheck the Bing toolbar and home page otherwise it will install
3. NCH software on demand.
4. Converting video to another format downloads a trial of NCH Prism, their video converter software.Summary
The software is generally good but I don't like the sneaky tactics they employ.
