Dark Sky is a specialized weather app designed to give you precipitation and temperature information tailored to your specific location and allows you to quickly view information from other areas. It offers a forecasting experience unlike any other weather app on the market. While it doesn't offer a comprehensive package of weather data, it may be just what you're looking for.
Visual representations: On each page of this app, you'll find unique graphic presentations of weather data. The main feature is an interactive radar map in the form of a globe that you can spin to see any area you choose. You can also zoom in on a selected area, and you can switch the overlay from precipitation to temperature. Additionally, there are graphs to show the projected temperature for the next 20 or so hours, as well as an animated graph showing how much precipitation your area will likely receive over the next hour, broken down into 10-minute increments.
Notification options: One of the most useful features of this app is the Notifications, which you can set to alert you when it's about to start raining or snowing. You can adjust these notifications to appear for light, moderate, or only heavy precipitation, depending on your preference.

Reliability: Notifications did pop up during testing, and they were somewhat accurate in terms of when the rain would start. But they didn't come up every time it started raining, and so to be sure you weren't about to walk out into a downpour, you'd have to open the app and check manually.
Dark Sky is a fun app to play with, and it can be quite useful under certain circumstances. If you want to know more than precipitation and temperature forecasts, you'll have to consult another app. But if you're mainly concerned about not getting caught in a storm, it's a good option to have on hand, and it costs $3.99 on the App Store.
