    "Serious problems, no developer response"

    Software didn't work, no pros.

    Cons

    Using dban-2.2.6_i586.iso, latest version, received "ISOLINUX 4.00 4.00-pre46 ETCD Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin .. reading sectors error (EDD) ERROR: No configuration file found". Reported on boards since 2010, no response from developers.

    Summary

    Use at your own risk. The developers seem to have moved on to other things and left this software out there. Their site appears to be no longer maintained and user documentation is very dated.

    Had same issue. Seems there's a difference in the versions. Found elsewhere to try version 1.0.7 for "older" computers, and its running now and seems to be working. Wonder if the file name gives a clue - 2.2.6 has i586 in the filename, 1.0.7 has i386 in filename.
