"Not bad, by the Adware is a problem"

    July 04, 2006   |   By Bob Frapples

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

Daemon Tools is a nifty little program that I fond to be much better than Alcohol 120%. It is relatively simple and does a good job of emulation.

    Cons

The Adware that comes with it is a problem for many people. Luckily, another user who wrote a review called 'joemck' has found a way to delete the Adware before it can install itself. Thank you, joemck. His solution can be found in the user reviews.

    Pros

The program runs well, it will not slow down the system

    Cons

The adware is too annoying, anything with adware is not worth downloading.

"Excellent small utility - Hard to live live without it"

    May 22, 2006   |   By yuhaian

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

If you have a lot CD and big hard disk. This software is excellent utility for you. Saved your time to search for CD. No need to burn CD now. Smaller comparing to sonic or other commerial products.

    Cons

You do need big, even huge hard disk(s). And best use with a big USB hard disk like 60GB iPod etc to carry iso files around.

    "I can't recommend this enough!"

    May 05, 2006   |   By tycobb09

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

It's free for personal use and doesn't make you register either.I'm not going to talk about copy protection here ,let's just say it worked ok.

This is the best one I've tryed.I had some cue/bin(iso)image files I didn't know what to do with and tryed some others ,but only this did the trick.

No spyware/adware. I just scanned with ad-aware and nothing came up ,but I didn't have time to use other antispy's.

    Cons

None for me. If you don't want the toolbar then don't install it and quit complaining about it.

This company has got to eat too.An optional toolbar should be nothing new for you if you've come this far in downloading.

"Fantastic freeware for handling image files on virtual drives."

    May 04, 2006   |   By JDreller

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

For those of you who don't understand this program, it's used to "emulate" a data drive so that you can use files in a burned format without needing to burn them. Basically, a DVD/CD burned has cue, bin, iso, etc files that you can't just click and play like exe, wav, mp3 files etc. They're in a specific format that can only be read by disk drives. Before programs like this, you had to take these files and burn them to cd/dvds and then run them from the phsyical cd or dvd. Now, you simply "mount" these files (called image files, but don't be confused, they're not pictures), onto virtual drives and access them as if the cd/dvd was burned.

"Great to use, adware no problem."

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

Does what it say's on the packet, banned in Finland if not more countries as far as I can tell, so being a cynic I think this shows how well it works.

    Cons

None so far but may confuse some if adware is installed by accident. See forums.

"Great program, has ADWARE, but easily bypassed"

    April 11, 2006   |   By joemck

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

Great program with no-nonsense interface. Alcohol 120% has more features and options, but DAEMON Tools seems to do better as a background program, like it's supposed to be. (The adware cost it a star in my rating. Would've cost it more, but it's a good program and the adware is pretty easy to bypass.)

    Cons

This download includes the adware "WhenU", but it doesn't install until the first time you run the program, and requires an open internet connection to install itself. To completely avoid it:

    1. Install normally. Uncheck the box next to "Launch DAEMON Tools" at the very end.

    2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools" in My Computer (or wherever you installed to, if you changed it)

    3. Delete the program "SetupDTSB".

    4. Run DAEMON Tools. You're done!

    "Great program, but deceptive advertising."

    March 03, 2006   |   By RedDragon888

    Version: Not Found

    Pros

This is the best optical drive emulator I have ever used. It defeats several well known CD-copy protection schemes. If you have a good CD image creation software, then you can copy that CD to any computer by running the image through DAEMON.

    Cons

The DAEMON site lies when it says you can uninstall the DAEMON search bar, which is not even called a search bar or DAEMON. The program is in a folder called VVSN in Program Files. No evidence of it exists in Add/Remove Programs. Uninstalling Daemon does not uninstall this program. I would not even have known its existence if not for Scotty (WinPatrol) and ZoneAlarm. However, you do have the option of not installing it during DAEMON setup.
