"Don't even think about it...stay away. Dangerous stuff."

    March 19, 2013  |   By nopcbs

    None. Zero. Nada.

I got a CNET new version alert and FOOLISHLY started a download. Noticed all the cr*pware that the install included and started getting warnings that software was trying to change my default IE home page from Malwarebytes. I terminated the install (via "cancel") and that's when my problems with my WIN8 Pro really started. Computer would not run right, Defender and Malwarebytes found new Trojans, WIN8 would not start w/o errors, WIN8 tried to do an auto repair and could not, had to resort to a week old restore point...and that worked.

Stay away from this dangerous install. Even w/o the Trojans it includes all the changes and cr*pware that it tries to load on your PC is reason enough to avoid it completely. No more daemon anything for me...these people cannot be trusted.

It has nothing to do with CNet, if you download it from Daemon Tools themselves it comes packaged with malware and viruses. The company have done this to try and make profit off their freeware.

I think the CNet install is your problem. They take a good product and add a bunch of crap and branding to it. NEVER download from CNet. Go to the original site, in this case www.daemon-tools.cc and download it safe way, from the original authors.

A friend of mine had her Internet Explorer broken because of accidentally clicking on an ad with a big "DOWNLOAD" button, here on CNet. Turns out the ad was not the product she was trying to download.
