From Disc Soft:
Most popular product that offers easy tools for making simple disc image files and emulating virtual CD/DVD drives.
1. Emulate a virtual CD/DVD-ROM/HD DVD and Blu-ray drives
DAEMON Tools Lite enables you to emulate up to 4 CD/DVD virtual drives on your PC. Virtual drives will appear in your OS just like real ones. Select a virtual drive then choose a disc image you want to mount. Find the created virtual drive with mounted disc image in My Computer. Start working. Daemon Tools Lite Looks like working with a real drive and a real disc, doesn't it? Yes, but it is much faster.
2. Create a disc image
With DAEMON Tools Lite you can create ISO and MDS image files from original discs inserted in physical CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray drives. Or use images you have created earlier with other program. DAEMON Tools products work with wide spread of image types.
What's new in this version: Version 4.35.6 adds new MDX format supporting, "Open Mount'n'Drive Manager on start" option; Sidebar gadget skin selection; Drag'n'drop support in Sidebar gadget.

None so far.
-
"Difficult."
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Free, sort of.
Cons
I can't get it to work.
-
"Yes Spyware and Yes Adware!! Cnet needs to review"
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Maybe it has many features, but I've chosen not to use this program because upon installation this morning Avira immediately reported "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen" Trojan
Cons
Again the Lite version of this program upon installation this morning Avira immediately reported "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen found in file DTLite.exe"
Summary
...so that's the Spyware part of the lie they perpetrate. As for Adware it IS installed if you don't go out of your way to click off 2 installation options preset to install searchbars etc
Go to the Forums for Daemon Tools and you'll see *dozens* of threads from people reporting two or three classes of Trojans. The admins dismiss all of these reports as false positives. Personally I'd rather move on to something that doesn't put my data/information at risk. -

"Does what it's supposed to, unobtrusively."

"Works fine in Windows 7"
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Excellent tool for mounting and unmounting disc images and files without a physical drive. I use it for burning and ripping audio files. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.
Cons
None so far.
Summary
It installed without errors the first time in Windows 7 Home Premium on two different PCs. Contrary to what one other reviewer claimed, no special or complicated workaround.was required. The other reviewer also recommended MagicDisc as an alternative, but I found its GUI to be poorly designed and its file handling to be awkward. By comparison, Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6 is straightforward and is by far the better tool of the two..

"Free, Does exactly what it says it does."
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Works Great, no problems.
Cons
Pay attention when installing or it changes settings and installs toolbar.
-
"Installs spyware, unwanted toolbar"
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Unknown. The fact that it installed spyware (see below) makes me not want to use it at all.
Install at your own risk.Cons
This program installs spyware and an unwanted tool bar, replaces your home page AND default search engine. No entry in the add/remove software utility for uninstalling the program.
Summary
I won't use a program that makes wholesale changes to my system and browser configuration that have nothing to do with the program itself. This thing changed my browser settings, installed a toolbar, and does not provide an uninstaller in Add/Remove programs. I would recommend against installing this program. Find something else that won't try to take over your machine.

"No frills. Does what's supposed to"
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Simple to use
Cons
not the most stable one

"What a breeze! Daemon Tools Light works superbly!"
Version: Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6
Pros
Daemon Tools Light is so easy to use! I just dropped the name of my ISO file onto the icon of a virtual hard drive. The file opened up; iit ran just fine!
Cons
It's just a minor point. I did have to restart my computer to get Daemon Tools Light up and running. (And, like my high school history teacher, I disagree with misspelling words. It's LIGHT not Lite, DISK not DISC.)
Summary
Wow, Daemon Tools Light is super easy to use! It worked flawlessly with Windows XP.
