1. Emulate a virtual CD/DVD-ROM/HD DVD and Blu-ray drives
DAEMON Tools Lite enables you to emulate up to 4 CD/DVD virtual drives on your PC. Virtual drives will appear in your OS just like real ones. Select a virtual drive then choose a disc image you want to mount. Find the created virtual drive with mounted disc image in My Computer. Start working. Daemon Tools Lite Looks like working with a real drive and a real disc, doesn't it? Yes, but it is much faster.
2. Create a disc image
With DAEMON Tools Lite you can create ISO and MDS image files from original discs inserted in physical CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray drives. Or use images you have created earlier with other program. DAEMON Tools products work with wide spread of image types.

It's Free. Intuitive and gets the job done.

As others have said, this freeware is loaded with excess "extras" that you have to get rid of after loading. It also shifts your homepage to Daemon sites. Took a few minutes to eliminate the crap and delete the Daemon sites.
Summary
I used it to mount a game icon so I didn't have to use the disk everytime I play. Works fine.

Daemon Tools Lite installs tons of excess crap... toolbars, gadgets, and other misc. crap that affect system performance.
Summary
Either burn the discs you want to mount or find another program that doesn't insist on installing a ton of garbage as well.

This software works great for installing downloaded programs without having to burn them to a disc. It is also very easy to use too. This is NOT a virus. It is just a program that is used for emulating a disc image.
Cons
Nothing that I could find wrong with the software in the years I have been using it.

Simple, fast, reliable, adjustable and all for free. There is even a nice Sidebar Gadget for DTL available, that's quit handy.

Non that I found of can think of.
Summary
A great product that delivers what it promises. Ease of use and very fast. Doesn't gubble up much CPU or memory. Over the years I haven't found anything better yet, or it must be the Pro version ofcourse. But this Lite version suites the purposes of most users I think, so if you haven't before, give it a try. I garantee you will like it.

None. Program didn't work, caused problems.

Did not work. Appeared to negatively affect host machine operation.
Summary
Installation completed successfully but program does not work. Re-install did not fix. Program does not appear in program list, so it cannot be un-installed. Immediately after install, began having other technical problems with laptop. (Note: Had just re-imaged the laptop an hour before and all was working optimally!) Not sure yet if this is a conflict with Windows 7, or if there is a virus involved.
