Users who need to edit video contained on DVDs need a program capable of ripping the video into an editable format. DVDxDV for Mac, with its features and excellent instructions, is a great option for those who want to edit DVD video using other editing programs.
DVDxDV for Mac downloads from the developer's Web site quickly and the installation occurs without any user intervention needed. After accepting a licensing agreement and going through an initial setup, the user is taken to a menu with tutorial videos. These provide instruction on using the program and sending the files to a video-editing program. For new users, these videos will help them use the program more easily. Technical support is available for program updates. The program's menu was well designed and even novice users will be able to use it easily. DVDs placed in the Mac drive automatically load in the program and list available titles for conversion. Beyond simple conversion, there are few features available. Further, working with copy-protected DVDs requires an additional program or workaround in order to load them for converting. For homemade videos, the process performs well and output is as expected. The program is available as a free trial version, which places a watermark on output video. The full version requires a $19.95 payment to remove the restriction.
For those users who need a simple program to change DVD video to formats for other editing software, DVDxDV for Mac works well, but does not have many additional features.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of DVDxDV for Mac 2.5.
DVDxDV is widely used through-out the television and film industry to create broadcast quality video from standard DVDs. Many prominent television shows, such as, Frontline on PBS, have used DVDxDV to create high quality video from DVD. DVDxDV is a program designed to extract your movies off of a DVD. After a DVD is created, the original source material can get lost or damaged. When this happens, there is no easy way to get the video off the DVD and back into the computer where it can be re-edited. DVDxDV makes it easy to get at your video when it's on DVD. With DVDxDV you can quickly convert the DVD video back into any Quicktime video format. From there, it can be re-edited and burned onto a new DVD.

Able to take my clients DVD's and re-edit them into their liking. Easy to use
Had trouble with the 16x9 issue. Still not completely sure about it. But, I will figure it out.
First, let's start with the DVDxDV team. These guy are willing to help you at a moments notice. They don't get back to you in a week they answer your questions immediately. Where else can you get that kind of service? They are more than willing to help you with your problem. I would highly recommend them to anyone. As far as the software goes, it was the first third party software I purchased when I bought my Macs. I use them regularly. Thank You DVDxDV.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. The support from the developers of DVDxDV-Mac OS X has been excellent sinceI first purchased this program in 2006. It continues to provide excellent quality extractions from DVDs that I have produced. Customers send DVDs with commercial broadcast files that need ripping for re-editing for television.
...Potential This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This DVDxDV is great at what it does. I have several clients who love to send my DVD's as a master source. DVDxDV allows me to do these jobs quickly and efficiently. Its like my secret weapon. Before I found this, it was a big headache trying to rip the DVD and convert them to the right Format. DVDxDV output files load right into Final Cut Pro or Imovie. Plus the support team actually offers support. Plus the DVDxDV team stands behind their customers. That way I dont loose clients, and I can keep my rates competive. That alone is worth more than buying some other dead software.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I'm a comedian and am always ripping bits from my shows off DVD's for youtube, my website and other promotional places.... this is the best software out there for that. Also, last week my hard drive crashed and so I needed to reload their program on my computer. I couldn't find a way to reload it without buying it again. I'm on tour today in California and emailed them asking if there was a way to get it without buying it again. It was 8:15AM on Sunday morning so I knew I wouldn't get a response but about 10 minutes later I got an email telling me how to do it. Absolutely amazing customer service backing up an all ready great product!
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I downloaded and in stalled the product and had some questions to help fit it into my workflow. The support team quickly responded to multiple emails very quickly helping me get my project started. I'm definately impressed with the speed and quality produced by this software but I'm even more impressed by the support team's willingness to work through the smallest details to ensure I was happy with this purchase. I would recommend this product for it's ability to produce quality files very quickly.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the super quick response from the DVDxDV support team when I needed help with our license code today. Icing on the cake for a wonderful product that does what we need it to do, simply, easily and efficiently.
DVDxDV is simple to use and always gets the job done. If you have a need for getting video off DVDs and into Final Cut like we do then this is going to be the best inexpensive software you ever bought.
There really wasn't anything I didn't like about this product....
The customer service has always been right on any question or help with our key. Sincerely Digital Studio
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I've been using DVDxDV for years now. It's very easy to use and creates high quality quicktime files that I've used both with iMovie and also on my iPod. All in all, still the best program I have found for converting DVD media to Quicktime. Great support - the few times that I've needed to contact customer support (problem w/ license key & getting the most recent version) they have responded promptly.
