"Seems like it just stopped working"

October 11, 2014  |  By David525999

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

It used to work really well.

Cons

Twice now, on two different computers it goes through the burning process, all the encoding and stuff, but when the dvd is "done" everywhere I try it says it's blank! My computer, a dvd recorder, my ps3, they all say it's blank. It just went through 3 - 4 hours "burning" but not actually doing anything!

Summary

Like I said, it used to work really well, but it doesn't anymore. I'm using a different dvd burner from now on. It's really irritating waiting for several hours to get a burned dvd only to find it didn't actually do anything and the disc is still blank!

"Still Works for Me!!"

March 02, 2014  |  By flower_petals

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

It does what it's supposed to do. I have never had a problem.

Cons

Does use a lot of processing power.
Title menu selections are boring.
Wish they would have given it an update.

Summary

After 5 years without an update, it still does what it needs to do. It is still my go to program for when I want to put my movie files on a dvd. It's free and it works.

"Not for the faint hearted !"

February 24, 2014  |  By steveb444

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

Supports multiple audio tracks, .ac3 (full 5.1) as well as .wav
(DPLII/stereo), supports subtitles and has 'configurable' menus (templates). Correctly 'squeezes' 768x576 (or anything else) into 720x576 for SD PAL DVD.

Cons

DVD SD only (not SVCHD). Last updated 2009 (and uses FFmpeg from that date), makes assumptions (NTSC, 4:3) and has a habit of resetting your choices (16:9) back to 'auto' (4:3). The menu is 'fragile' and will confuse many DVD players = it will show a 'select language' menu (even when you only have one language) and generates a 'chapter' menu (even when you have no chapters). On some DVD players, using the 'menu' button on the remote control during playback can results in a lock-up = or the 'select language' page

Summary

Not for the 'drag and drop' user, however with a bit of 'tweaking' (and multiple checking that it hasn't changed your settings back to 'auto') you can build a multiple audio track SD DVD with full surround sound that will play in in a domestic DVD player on a wide-screen (16:9) TV display. To generate your own menu, check out the included templates in \Program Files\DVD Flick\templates (and be aware that you MUST have 100% 'valid' settings, even for pages you don't need if you expect to use the DVD in a normal player (DVDFlick actually creates all the menu 'pages', it just doesn't show them all)).

Updated on Feb 25, 2014

I note from the user forums that many people have problems burning direct to DVD == I'm not surprised, it uses 'built-in' ImgBurn, but (of course)it's 5 years out of date !!! Always generate the DVD files (or ISO) first (and check that the audio is 'in sync', another common problem) and then use the current (stand-alone) ImgBurn to do the actual burn.

"Works great for what it does!"

November 12, 2013  |  By tedsnyder

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

Does what it is supposed to do with no effort on your part. Easy user interface and simple to use. Did a great job of converting my mpg to dvd!!

Cons

It does hog the machine, so go get a coffee and it will be OK.

Summary

The complaints I read in comments here are from people that were looking for miracle software that would do everything that they could image. The developer did not promise all those things.

"I LOVE this program!"

November 06, 2013  |  By perryinjax2

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

This is THE most reliable and the BEST sofware I have used them all.. and this one is the absolute best.. I will use nothing else to burn my movies to dvd.

Cons

It does use a LOT of processor power when burning to dvd... but that is true of any program that is converting, producing an edit, or doing much of anything with large video files, give it a break already!

Summary

This is THE most reliable, bargain deal, best dvd burner program I have ever used or seen. And I have used almost all of them. THIS one can handle just about ANY format you can possibly throw at it.. very seldom does it need to be converted first before DVD FLICK can handle the file. The people that gave it bad reviews must not have set it up properly, which is very intuitive and easy to do for anyone familiar with video file types and dvd burning. Like I said, It is very very Resource hungry.. but so is anything else that has to do a lot of work on any large video file.
It NEVER has taken me more than 3 or 4 hours to totally convert and burn, the complete process from beginning to end, including conversion and then burning of the dvd and the tray automatically ejecting.. NEVER any more than 3.5 hours from beginning to end for the Whole Process, but then I do have a very powerful notebook, Intel i7 processor and 8gb of Ram.. I have NEVER been disappointed by this program :-) LOVE IT!

"I don't know what I put on my computer"

December 16, 2012  |  By mipada5

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

None.
I don't think it does anything and I'd be suspicious of the software.

Cons

I can't find out how to start the program. It didn't give me the startup screen. What is it doing on my computer that makes it take so long (as stated above).

Summary

I'm afraid to run the software.

"Did Precisely What I Needed"

November 16, 2012  |  By IKTHUSRJD

 |  Version: DVD Flick 1.3.0.7

Pros

Had a fairly large 2 GB video and a standard DVD disc. Needed a program that would fit the video onto the disc. This program downloaded very easily, the instructions were clear and while, yes, it took a while to do the job, it did it perfectly. Very thankful.

Cons

Yea, OK, it's slow, but what's the hurry if you're looking for a job to be done and very well at that.

Summary

We're in a hurry, hurry generation. More often than not we expect perfection - yesterday. This program delivers just what it advertises and best of all, it's free.
