"A unique program"
Version: DNA Baser 3.5.1
Pros
I have found the program few months ago and since then it replaced most of my bioinformatics tools.
I personally think this program is revolutionary because it is the only one that allows batch sequence assembly. It fully automates the sequence assembly process. It automatically:
detects and trim low quality regions of your samples
trims vector/primer sequences
corrects the ambiguities in your contig
saves the project and the contig to diskCons
The trial period ended after few days. Anyway, you can continue evaluate the program after the end of the trial for months. All modules are functional: you can continue to convert files between different formats, to clean chromatogram's bad ends, to assemble contigs, etc. The sequence assembly module is the only that shows a reminder that the trial has ended (Press OK to ignore it, and continue your work).
Anyway, I don't care much about the trial period now because I got a license.Summary
Things that I like mostly about this program:
* No installation required (I have it on a USK stick and carry it with me)
* The range of features/modules it offers
* The interface
* The automation REALLY saves time (Batch contig assembly, automatic vector removal, automatic end trimming, batch file conversion (ABI, AB, AB1, AB!, SCF, GBK, FASTA, TXT, SEQ, multiFASTA, SFF))
Anyway, the best part about DNA Baser Sequence Assembler is the price. With a price 10 smaller than Sequencher's, it really crushes the market :) -
"A real life (and time) saver"
Version: DNA Baser 3.5
Pros
I had thousands of samples and I thought my life was over - I had to work weeks and weeks to analyze my data. But a friend told me that there is a software (DNA Baser) that can do all that work in one day, he said, but actually it took something like 1.5 hours. DNA Baser and its 'batch assembly' module gave me a holiday.
Cons
I wouldn't dare to say something bad about this program after it did so much for me!
Summary
Magic and affordable (people just look at its price is 10 (ten) times cheaper than similar programs).

"Totally failed program."
Version: DNA Baser 3.2.5.134
Pros
5 hours of trial? what do you expect me to write about
Cons
-failure in association with the .seq and .ab files
-failure in customer serviceSummary
This is not a freeware it will only give you 5 houres of trial. 5 hours Are you out of your mind? How would you know if its worth or not within just 5 hours.
Another problem, after finding out that this is just a trial version I tried to uninstall it and I found the webpage that explains uninstallation is out of date. After uninstallation all my .seq and .ab files was still associated with DNA baser program and wasn't able to open my files in any other program(e.g mhromas clustal X) A reply from this company only told me that this was not their problem they say it's Windows problem(Windows don't give error message after unistalling a program). However I sent images of the error I am getting and they refused to asnwer any of my complaints. just ignoring it (good customer service? yeah right) Bottom line 'This program sucks' PERIOD my 2 years of data blown away thanks to you guys -
"Relatively intuitive"
Version: DNA Baser 3.2.5
Pros
For a quick contig assembly, it didn't take too much fiddling to get it up and running. Fewer stupid design choices than Vector NTI 11's Contig Express.
Cons
Limited lifespan trial-ware, not freeware as they state on other sites.
I don't like the autosave option, on by default.Summary
I wouldn't call it amazing, but it is good for a quick assembly of sequencing data to a reference sequence.
