Version: DFX for Windows Media Player 7.255

"ALL features DISABLED more like it"

by Corydory on February 14, 2005

Pros: Well the programs features sound impressive however...

Cons: You can't hear the majority of them unless you have purchased the program! which is utterly stupid considering most level headed people would want to HEAR the difference FIRST. This really annoyed me as I wanted to hear the difference with my headphones on as I use them alot - but no no no - you must BUY BUY BUY first. Well I ain't paying for it if I can't judge if it's worth it first. For this alone I think the company needs to seriously rethink it's marketing strategy if it wants people to buy the program.

DFX does not offer ANYTHING that the standard (Roxio, Creative, SoundForge, Nero, other) offers - UNLESS you agree to purchase the full version. This is done through those annoying reminders about which features are limited in this "free" version vs the "full" version. Probably some BS agreement with Bill Gates.

Okay, coders who appreciate music and respect their art enough to offer it for review, with a request for a donation, of course (which I have given on more than one occassion, and having run a gaming server, I know that situation....)

Who is out there that offers encoders and auditors of quality higher than Nero, Sound Forge, Roxio and other standard brands and is not going to ask me to download Panda software? I mean, Christ, I am simply looking for encoders, not spyware...

Will donate to the write coder...

The sample version of DFX is a comprehensive tool. Adjusting the sliders incrementally provides a wide range of audio enhancements. Formerly flat mp3 files and video sound are tweaked substantially and feed very satisfying audio to my high-end a/v home theatre system. I would definitely recommend the tool, as the sample version alone proves its quality. Can't do without it anymore.
