"Excellent Period"
Version: DEVONthink Personal 1.7
Summary

This is an Excellent Program Period. Nothing out there like it for storing and retrieving data and keeping it organized. I wish it had drag n drop from DT into Entourage and reverse w/o having to "export" and then import. But still 5 Stars! One of the few Shareware Apps I use all the time. -
"DevonThink is the king of scrapbook managers"
Version: DEVONthink Personal 1.6
Summary

DevonThink is the king of scrapbook managers. It's a solid, well written program with lot's of usable options. The user interface is great and makes the program very friendly. Little options like the "Group" to take a selection of items and put them in a folder are timesavers. The icon preview when a folder is selected is also extremely useful. The different ways to view the database give you options that don't exist in any other program. The concordance feature is fast. The only thing it could use is more export options, such as an XML/OPML option for database content.
I am anxiously awaiting the SE release which should be soon.
The combination of DevonThink and NoteTaker really round out a personal information research and management solution. -
"One of the best."
Version: DEVONthink Personal 1.5.3
Summary

This is one of the best data management tools available for Mac OS X. On second thought, I believe it to be THE best data management software available on any OS. It is extremely powerful and intelligent (yes, "intelligent" is certainly applicable to software.) For the price it is also an excellent bargain. I store tons (assuming pixels have a specific weight) of data (in all types of file formats) in Devonthink and it is all neatly organized and ready for use via a powerful searching system. For "finished notebooks" of data (that is, current and nearly completed projects) from which I can readily access my notes/ideas, I use Circus Ponies' NoteBook. In CP Notebook, my data becomes finely tuned and organized in an intuitive outline form within a very visually appealing Notebook. These two programs have increased my productivity tenfold. I highly recommend Devonthink. -
"Like Google for your own hard drive"
Version: DEVONthink Personal 1.5.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This allows the equivalent of indexing a chunk of your own hard drive with Google. It is an amorphous tool that can be configured and used in many ways to suit the user's particular data and habits--and must be so configured. Like any tool, learning how to make efficient use of it requires experimentation. If you can keep track in your head of what information is in what documents and what those documents are called and where they are filed, then you will have no use for the program, but to this user who is organizationally challenged, any single application has ever enabled him to find things so easily. Two concern about using a database of this sort is that it be maintained properly and that your data be easily extracted down the road, when your needs change or the program ceases to be maintained. With DEVONthink, data are easily extracted and the few bugs I've found have been fixed promptly and the developers have been assiduous about informing users off an occasional serious problem that other users have turned up, and posting updates. For the power and quality of this application, the price is absurdly low.
