DAEMON Tools is a virtual DVD-ROM emulator based on a SCSI miniport driver. It emulates maximum 4 DVD-ROM drives and works with CD/DVD images created by many burning programs. It is great on notebooks without a physical CD-/DVD-ROM drive or to save akku power and speed up CD/DVD access. In opposite to other CD-/DVD-ROM emulators DAEMON Tools Lite doesn't use a proprietary container format. The advantage is that you can can burn the images you're using with DAEMON Tools Lite right away or just test an image before burning it to see if it was created correctly. DAEMON Tools Lite works with most image formats. Moreover it has a special feature to make physical (burned) backups of your CD / DVD images when it is possible. Use the "Direct Download Link" and it works like a dream. Nice program.
Cons
For those ppl having a BAD experience with adware, note: The Big Green Button is clearly marked with "CNET Installer Enabled". When you see that, look for their "Direct Download Link" instead.
CNET's installer (571-kb in size)comes with a layer of adware endorsed by CNET, that's how they generate advertising income. You're under no obligation to use it if you don't want to. CNET kindly provide the direct link for direct download of the actual program (13.26-MB in size). Try it.
Unfortunately ppl confuse the BAD experience with perfectly good programs, like Daemon Tools.Summary

The virtual drive works.
Cons
Tries to trick you into installing junk/malware, but even if you read carefully and choose not to install it, it goes ahead and does so anyway. I installed this, knowing they'd ad junk without my permission, thinking I could just easily uninstall it afterward. Nope. They went out of their way making it difficult to remove. Crap like this should be illegal. Heck, it probably is.

Didn't get passed installer but have used before. Is OK as an ISO mounter.

Would be goo dif you could get this without all the adware and a decent installer that doesn't close all your open browsers!Summary
Really poor instalation process. I didn't get to install it as it closed my browsers and tried to install unwanted software. Gave up on it at this point.

STAY VERY FAR AWAY!!! There should be a flashing 72pt warning in read that screams, "WARNING: CONTAINS MALWARE!!!"

Able to mount images quickly and efficently. Virtual device access seems faster than the alternatives.
Cons
Installs all sorts of other nasty crap along with program.
Summary
Free for personal use is always good when the alternatives for what I required were pay. The price you do pay is the time spent cleaning up your system and browsers from the installed crap.

If you just click through you will have really bothersome toolbars and stuff as a bundle.
Summary
You will actually have to read the options when installing to have a clean install of DeamonTools decline the searchbar. it doesnt cancel the installation and then choose custom installation and uncheck the extra optins om 3rd party software.

Installs toolbars on your computer after choosing not to have them installed.
Summary
No matter what choices made during install, you will have toolbars installed against your will into all of your browsers. After choosing not to have anything extra installed, including analyzing all the custom install options, to have it still install multiple spyware on my PC is unacceptable. I know it came from this install because I chose NOT to install that specific toolbar, yet it installed anyway.
Agreed, you cannot prevent the install of the SweetIM toolbar AND the SweetIM updater. You can't make claims about other people's reviews.
