"Good but not Great"
Version: DAEMON Tools Pro 4.36.0309
Pros
It does it's job good enough you'll play your virtual CD/DVD disks with ease and it can even convert images from one to another, supportes almost any format
Cons
You'll need to restart your PC when installing this programme. The interface is OK but it feels like something is missing here. Earlier versions of Daemon Tools often caused instability issues. New version comes after a long period of time
Summary
The second best programme in emulating virtual disks after Alcohol 120%. It does it's job well enoegh but in comparison to Alcohol feels a bit less user-friendly, less stable and a bit less attractive, though it plays well almost everything. If you have Alcohol 120% you may forget about Daemon Tools but if you don't than you'll find a lot to like here. It's better and nicer than Magic ISO and other emulating programmes around.

"causes problems"
Version: DAEMON Tools Pro 4.36.0309
Pros
works, mounts images, supports what it says it does
Cons
SPTD drivers interfere with other non-virtual CD devices and programs
Summary
After days of trying to figure out why my DVD drive speeds dropped significantly recently, I decided to try uninstalling daemon tools and the SPTD drivers completely. It seems to have worked, as the drive access and write speeds sped up significantly. SPTD was also interfering with Badaboom video encoder which I use frequently.

"complicated and useless"
Version: DAEMON Tools Pro 4.36.0309
Pros
Highly rated by other CNET users, this should have been worth buying. It offers lots of ways to burn virtual CDs for which I have no need.
Cons
Apparently no physical CD burning. Random Language selection. Useless Help. Evasive about Uninstall.
Summary
After over an hour of trying all the tabs and links, I found no way to burn a physical CD although there is a page dedicated to the medium. The Help tab only offers a discoursive virtual manual, with no index to help me identify the appropriate service or the answer to my problem. After a while, it started to offer me pages in Russian and Chinese instead of English. I had to get help to uninstall, as this was not to be found within the program and as the program was not listed in the Windows 2000 Start table. Instead of buying Daemon as I expected, I have the free CNET-recommended BurnAware which does what I want with no trouble.
