    "Definitely Worth Trying"

    December 8, 2003  |   By richard petty--2008

    Version: Cyberduck 2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If you are trying to locate a "better" FTP/SFTP client program, then you definitely own it to yourself to try Cyberduck. It's simple but works like it ought to. I've only been using it work a little while but in my tests it appears to work reliably.

Definitely better than the other free offering, Fugu, at least until Fugu gets a "modification date" column. (Sorry Fugu developers, file modification dates are NOT optional.)

I've got a suggestion or two that I'm going to forward to the author but, on the whole, this is a very nicely done application.

    "It works for me!"

    Summary

Finally a freeware FTP/SFTP client that works as it should. And none of the "sorry, we can't copy directories" that I get with Fugu. (If I wanted to copy files a directory at a time, I'd just use the command line...).

Anyway, Cyberduck seems to do the trick!

Very nice work, but there is one "bug", namely, the text in the download window gets messy.

    "nice little app"

    Version: Cyberduck 2.1beta4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was about to give up on this one when the first download I did would not upload stuff, but, whatever happened, the new download works just fine, is very simple to use, and, while it could use some customization features like font choice, it has what it needs and is very fluid in operation. I had some early misgivings owing to my memories of Cyberdog, if anyone remembers that, but, let it quack!

    "not bad"

    August 15, 2003  |   By rlyon

    Version: Cyberduck 2.1beta2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Faster then Transmit but missing the refinement. I don't care for the Netscape download window dialog thing, and when doing multiple uploads new transfer dialog window things stack exactly on top the prior upload making it difficult to manage at a glance how many transfers you have going or if they even registered. when dragging and dropping files, there's no mouse over effect to let the user know exactly which folder is being used. You have to use the force and trust your judgment because there's no visual feedback. No cancel button as noted. Not bad, just some refinement is needed.

    "Almost there"

    Version: Cyberduck 2.1beta2

    Summary

It's much snapier now, using Cocoa. I just missed a few things (and I hope the developer include them in the next version ;): 1) a Cancel button, to stop whatever is going on whithout waiting for a timeout; 2) buttons in the ToolBar for the drawers (log and favorities). It seems that it has a little date problem with some servers, as it displays the files' dates as 1970. Keep up the good work! Thanks for making a free SFTP client. :)
