Editors' Review

Cyberduck for Mac downloads and uploads remote files using an FTP, SFTP, or a WebDAV connection, as well as online storage services like Google Drive and Amazon S3 Storage. It's a well-built, accessible app that does its job without any issues, though its transfer speeds may not be the best.

Well integrated: The app integrates well with OS X -- you have the ability to Quick Look remote files, enter fullscreen mode, and even save log-in data to your keychain. While nothing fancy, we've found the interface to be usable and easy to work with.

Good platform support: When creating a new connection, you are given the option to choose from nine protocols, including three cloud storage services -- Amazon S3 Storage, Google Drive, and Rackspace -- and enter information like server, username, and password.

Convenient: Two nice touches are the abilities to save the password to your OS X keychain and to automatically reopen the connection the next time you launch the app.

Transfer speeds vary: For a server on the same network, it took us less than 30 seconds to download and upload an 80MB file. But when using Google Drive, the times increased to 40 seconds to download and a minute for the upload.

Bottom Line

If you're looking for an easy-to-use FTP client that packs some powerful features, Cyberduck for Mac turns out to be a good choice. Whether you need built-in support for Google Drive or Amazon S3, or just a client that lets you manage file permissions, reveal hidden files, and place speed limits, this free app will peak your interest.

"Freezes constantly; completely useless"

 |  Version: Cyberduck 5.1

It is able to access a server for stored files.

-Search function does not work. It only searches the folder you are in. What's the point when servers are made to store files in possibly thousands of folders? You will never be able to easily search for any file. Hopefully, your files are very well organized or else you will never find them.

-I have approximately 300GBs or more of files to transfer and it is taking forever because Cyberduck freezes and crashes constantly. I sometimes have to move one file or one folder at a time because it will crash.

-You cannot select more than one file on the transfer list to remove so you have to waste time clicking each file and remove. Waste of time. When the list filled up, it prompted to remove all the listed transfers. Wonderful feature... except... surprise, it freezes. I have to continually manually remove the items on the list. Also, it lags when there are more than 3 items on the list, making the process even slower.

This program is probably good if you rarely use it or only have a few files to store. If you have 100s of GBs of files DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!
