"biggest pile of POS I have ever used"

    May 8, 2014  |   By SWGAmgee32

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

Nothing it ans their support are a POS

    Cons

Resource hog, way over complicated and cumbersome. Spent 6 hours on the paid support line and finally was told that this software will not do the simple things that Pinnacle will and can do. Even a 8 year old version.

    Summary

It's POS! avoid it like the plague. It is not worth the HTML space the website is written on.

If there were a minus rating I would got and their support a -10

    "I hate this software"

    November 21, 2013  |   By axiomshift78

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

easy to use if you want your disc to look like the generic templates. If you want to change the menu in anyway, good luck with that

    Cons

impossible to make anything look good. Plus the customer support cost way too much for what you should be able to find in FAQ

    Summary

I've never written a review before. But this POS software pushed me that far. First, a little background. I am a heavy graphics user. I work on computers for a living, animating for Dreamworks. So I do know my way around a graphix package or two. But this software is so frustratenly limiting. All I want is to use my on image for the background of the menu, and add an invisible button over the entire image to start the movie. And after 4 full nights, roughly 20 hours or more. I was unable to find any help on the internet or anyway to do it.

I will never ever purchase any software that this company puts out. And I hope they go out of business.

    good day

    "Not ready for Prime Time"

    May 16, 2011  |   By Ripsnort

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

    Very intuitve lay out.

    Cons

Does not burn DVDs on higher end machines. Error code E80004004.
Insanely slow rendering on Duo core machines with 3 GB ram.. Cyberlink tried to assist me through the issue of not being able to burn a DVD but they were unable to fix the issue.

    Summary

This software is not ready for primetime. There is some serious issues on the new machines. I would avoid spending the money on this product.

    "Great Software!!!"

    November 11, 2010  |   By starwei

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

It?s a great piece of software for easy to use video editing. It works great with my Core i5 processor, and never once whilst rendering had the experience of it crashing.

    Cons

    no cons so far

    Summary

?After reading some of the reviews on here, I wasn?t sure whether or not to put my trust in PowerDirector 8, especially reading about some of the problems with it crashing. But, I decided to throw caution to the wind, and I?m happy I did. I liked the fact I could do simple one click fixes to my video clips and add crazy effects to them as well. If you?re thinking about reliable, affordable video editing software that doesn?t break the bank, I?d definitely choose PowerDirector 8.?

"Unique effects and easy to use!"

    November 7, 2010  |   By mokakaa

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

It gives good effects and transitions. It's really a good video editing software.

    Cons

    more quickly more better.

    Summary

I found PowerDirector 8 a dream to work with. I first tried it out for a free trial, and then decided to purchase the full version. I really like the fact you can create unique particle effects and seamless transitions using the 16 track timeline. The fact that you can download other users? effects is also very appealing. Overall I would recommend PowerDirector 8 for anyone wanting to get started in video editing.

    "a fun software to use."

    November 4, 2010  |   By meexs38

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

    fast and fun!!

    Cons

    nothing to complain

    Summary

PowerDirector 8, despite is clunky name, is actually quite a fun software to use. The dorky effects are a bit retro, but quite pleasant. Not to mentioned their user-generated site, DirectorZone, where one can download an unlimited amount of effects. Heck, you could upload your own too!

    "I gave Cyberlink v7 a "good" rating...but just barely."

    October 15, 2010  |   By bosco66

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 8.0

    Pros

Fairly well organized and gets easier to manipulate with practice. Final product looks good... but not great. Seems to have good potential for bigger and better things... we'll see. Good audio but don't forget to adjust vol. control every time.

    Cons

Crashes often when videos go beyond 7-9 minutes. Tutorials virtually useless. Final product loses about 10% of periphery for no reason. Won't make one copy on a dvd but loops10 or so despite telling it otherwise. I hear v8 isnt much better. Too bad.

    Summary

Learning curve (like many others) is steep for a beginner but manageable. Somewhat inflexible when downloading media but works ok. I would like to upgrade to v8 but what I'm reading here and what I've been experiencing makes me think twice. V7 came with the computer (HP with i5 and NVIDIA) so I don't think there should be any excuses on Cyberlink's part. Worst of all is the seemingly total lack of support on the site... frustrating to say the least. Think I'll wait a bit longer before making the jump to v8 especially if the crash issue gets any worse.

    Updated on Oct 15, 2010

Sorry if I mislead anyone regarding v8. I have v7 and am contemplating going to v8. I could find no reviews for 7.
