    "STAY AWAY... bad choice"

    March 13, 2015  |   By PaulonC-Net

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13

    Pros

    NONENONE NONE NONE

    Cons

Slow and no support and missing the expected.
CyberLink is horrible software. It is S..L..O..W.... keep waiting.
And once I've built a production I can't export it to mp4 - just one of the most used media formats - if its possible they hide it well.
Take the advice of a user that wanted to get something done fast.
No support to be found... just a link back and forth on their website .
    Be wise STAY AWAY

    "Very Disappointed"

    January 26, 2015  |   By Hemodynamic

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13

    Pros

    Cost. Slide shows

    Cons

Regarding Video making all my computer has done is stall and create saccadic playbacks with every video I have made if I add any changes to the original video (time lapse, reverse, rotate )
I searched multiple forums and there are a lot of people having problems.
I recently purchased Adobe cloud and downloaded Adobe Premier Pro CC and have had no problems what so ever on the same computer.
Intel Core 2 Duo ProV 2.66 Ghz, Windows 7 65 bit Pro, 8 GB 800 Mhz Ram, NVidia 2GB GT 610, 150 GB HDD (7500 rpm).

    Summary

Don't believe the hype! PowerDirector is a dog and very frustrating for video editing.
If you don't want to be frustrated with making video productions, even small home type stuff then get the Creative cloud and download Premier Pro. It's totally worth it!

"Does not cut the mustard.... (Not recommended)"

    January 17, 2015  |   By love2succeed

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13

    Pros

The pros are... I am using a real tool now - Adobe.

    Cons

Waste of money. Performance is poor. Not built smart nor intuitive - still hanging on to old technology. The documentation was unintelligent - try following the steps. For example, in order to do Noise reduction - Cyberlink tells you to click the "noise reduction" (makes sense). However they leave out major details like...the noise reduction option is under the menu "Restore" Typically users are in the edit mode... meanwhile you are searching all over the screen for the "noise reduction button." You go to help ? button within their application... try clicking on the help links... and wha-la - that's broken also. And I should not use "Customer Service" in the same sentence with Cyberlink...

    Summary

This tool is not for people who are serious about doing "nice" video editing and /or audio. If you have time to burn with a system that hangs - then so be it.

I am not interested in buying Cyberlink's products ever again. I am prefer Adobe's products, Final Cut. or a "real video editing software."

    "Not for commercial use."

    October 24, 2014  |   By SoNic 67

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13.0

    Pros

    1. Plenty of features and effects for a home user.
    2. Some level of GPU acceleration for effects and encoding (with some caveats).
    3. Price.

    Cons

    1. GPU acceleration for nVidia is incompatible with newest drivers.
    2. Licensing agreement states is not for commercial usage because licenses for the output video formats (MPEG2, MPEG4) are not included:

    "Don't buy this product."

    October 9, 2014  |   By tymothil

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13.0

    Pros

It's affordable. When you can get it working properly, it's occasionally useful.

    Cons

Very glitchy UI. Counter-intuitive UI. Crashes often. Slow processing. Product crippling bugs in version 13. Support is not helpful, and expensive if you want to actually talk to someone.

    Summary

was using PowerDirector 12, and upgraded to PowerDirector 13. It was a mistake. The program, in general, has always had a lack of polish, including redraw problems (where all the UI interface elements disappear after completing an action), counter-intuitive interface design, random crashes, and weird bugs (occasionally all transitions in a project will suddenly switch which element is A and which is B, and many others). Those are all still present; in fact, the UI has managed to take a step backwards, never remembering window positions and sizes, and the redraw is even worse than before. Now, however, there is a bug where any AVI file imported will rotate the image 90 degrees, while leaving the image frame not rotated, so everything looks like it was taken on a vertical camera phone, but is also rotated the wrong direction. Contacting support resulted in a series of form-letter responses with occasional bits of unhelpful advice. And to actually talk to a live human is 30 dollars for 2 months of phone support. No official response on their forum after multiple people posted about the bug over a few weeks. I strongly advise against purchasing this program.

"ALERT!! AVOID!! Installed a Browser Hijacker!!"

    October 7, 2014  |   By donderutoo

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 13.0

    Pros

Not much. I tried to create a picture show with music. Easily dragged over 8 pictures and added music, but couldn't figure out how to add more pics. Frustrated at the performance (slow!) and UI. Ended up starting a new project, but it choked on my 400+ pictures and took over 20 minutes to import them. Ended up not using what I tried to create as it took too long and I had to go.

    Cons

It installed a browser hijacker that routes searches and your home page to a "trovi" (or something like that) site. PC slowed down tremendously, too. If you get this, anti-virus sw won't see it and Malwarebytes said they cleaned it, but didn't. Use the ad-blocker software, i.e. Superantispyware, adware, etc. and they will take care of it. You can also search on how to clean the trovi browser hijacker.

    Summary

Slow sw package that installed a browser hijacker/virus. Wouldn't recommend

    "hidden tech support"

    September 12, 2014  |   By ms techie

    Version: CyberLink PowerDirector 12.0

    Pros

easy to use buttons and navigation to access each component of the program. Desktop icons setup and install quickly.
First project smooth. Easy to import video and picture files

    Cons

tried to import MTS files, sends me to their website, response back quickly but have to sign up for their newsletters to see a response about a general question. They only post phone if you sign up and pay for tech support

    Summary

Would not purchase, will look at other options for desktop editing.
