"Extremely disappointed!"
Version: CyberLink PowerDVD 7
Pros
I couldn't agree more with Dano's review. Except for a considerable improvement of the CLEV-2 (which was probably the only reason why I foolishly chose to PURCHASE the full Deluxe version of this product, without testing it enough first), and a few cosmetic touches here and there, there's no new particular feature that you wouldn't already find in previous release 6.
Cons
1) Systematically crashes with DivX Pro 6.2-encoded files. I've also tried with different divx codecs, to no avail.
2) Sometimes, when you play DVD files (either directly from the disc, or from the HDD) and you click the "Stop" button, the counter keeps going, as if you were still watching the movie.
3) Navigation problems. For instance, you select "Play movie" from the interactive menu of your DVD, and the player freezes or returns to the splash screen, where you have to select the source again. I've tried with different titles (on disc and on HDD), but the problem persists.
4) The so-called "mini player mode" (a new feature, apparently) is something I yet have to see, because I haven't managed to enable it so far (and I've carefully read the help file).
5) Only one alternative skin available for download to replace the default one (for the time being, at least)... and it's very ugly (but it's a matter of taste, of course, and this is just my opinion).
***BOTTOM LINE*** My humble advice: stay with PowerDVD 6, if you can. This new version 7 seems to have been released prematurely, it's still very buggy, and offers very little more than the previous one.
Personally, and much to my regret, considering that I've already paid for this product, I've uninstalled it and returned to good old version 6.

"Vey nice."
Version: CyberLink PowerDVD 7
Pros
All in all it does what it's supposed to do. Many options, nicely done. The captures seem a higher quality than other players. I got this free with my pc, although paying 49.00 for it may not be for some people. I graded it on it's performance, not price so as stated, it works great but I honestly wouldn't pay that much for it.

"One of the best DVD softwares on the market..."
Version: CyberLink PowerDVD 7
Pros
Its one of the best software DVD players on the market.
Great, easy to use interface.
Program is very intuitive.
Program auto detects movies inserted into the DVD drive (as long as the program is running).
Program is quite fast.
Cons
I think the only major con is that the software is not free.
Another con is the availability of this software outside of purchasing it on the internet. I think its a complete waste to download or buy on the internet, I say this because you can just go and buy a new DVD drive, as they are now dirt cheap, $20 or so...and you not only get the DVD drive, but you get Cyberlink DVD included. You usually dont get WinDVD with DVD drives...its mostly older versions (like 5 or 6) of Cyberlink, but are full versions. Even though its v5 or v6, its still better than paying $50 for a new v7 license in my opinion.

My apologies for the last review of version 6.0...that was the case of pasting the wrong review in the wrong window.
