Great utility determining the general health of your hard disk drives. It tells the number of power-on hours and the number of starts the drive has experienced and how many bad blocks have been detected.

    "Excellent SMART info tool"

    June 18, 2010  |   By DaveOCP

    Version: CrystalDiskInfo 3.6.4

    Pros

Crystal Disk Info provides all of the necessary SMART information and a general health status indicator, can show graphs of values over time, monitors temperature with a user adjustable warning level, and uses almost no resources.

    Cons

Setup and options are a little bit convoluted compared to some other SMART programs, but after using it for a few minutes it's pretty straight forward to operate.

    Summary

I was using Active HD Monitor to watch the condition of my hard drive, until I noticed that it was using over 100MB of ram just sitting in the tray! I uninstalled it and tried HDD Health, which also is an enormous memory hog. After less than two full days of running, HDD Health went from using around 3MB of ram to over 40MB!

I want to keep an eye on my drive, but I'm not interested in a program that sucks up an enormous amount of memory just sitting and logging smart tables. Fortunately Crystal Disk Info is not a resource hog. I have the refresh set for every 60 minutes, and it's using the same 3MB of ram that it was when I first installed it. Thank you for coding this program properly!
