Cryptainer LE 5.0.1 User Reviews

"Good, strong encryption"
Version: Cryptainer LE 8.1
Pros
I tried TrueCrypt and it seemed a more difficult to use than Cypherix. For me, I need to be able to maintain and carry highly confidential documents on my laptop and my flash drive and this tool really does the trick.
Cons
The 25mb limit for the free version is a little tight, but understandable. I think TrueCrypt has Cypherix beat on this count.
Summary
A good strong encrypted vault that will protect your files.

"easy to use but..."
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.2
Pros
ease of use, reasonably inexpensive
Cons
2 or 3 major bugs that causes computer to crash and reboot
Summary
I was given a copy, along with 10 other employees, to test for my company. I was running windows 2000 sp 4. I found 2 major bugs. The system will often crash when unloading a a cypherix volume. For me it happens more than occasionally. The system also will crash when deleting files from a Cypherix volume and when copying files to a volume. You are supposed to be able to run program that is installed on a cypherix volume but I was unable to without crashing the system every time. All reviewers at my company had the same problems. The software is easy to use and quite intuitive. If you can use Windows explorer, you can use Cypherix. I kept my copy for my personal use and have found ways around some of the bugs (like not shutting down a Cypherix volume until I am done for the day). Cypherix PE version 7.2.3 could be a great product and I will have to try it on Vista to see if the problems are unique to Windows 2000 alone

"Works well with Vista, will it work with Windows 7?"
Version: Cryptainer LE 6.1
Pros
Simple to use. Provides basic security sufficient to stop 'nosey parkers'
Cons
No complaints
Summary
I need to know whether this version will run with Windows 7
I have LE version 7.2.3 -
"VERY Poor company support - don't waste your money."
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.2.3.0
Pros
Does what it says it will do.
Cons
No company support.
Summary
I purchased, downloaded and installed the software. Was suppose to receive a registration code but did not receive one. My computer sees the software as an examination copy because I cannot register it and the 30-day period is about to expire and the software become useless. Have emailed them 6 times and received no reply. DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE - you will lose your money.

"easy to use and effective"
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.1
Pros
User-friendly product, very similar to True Crypt. Creates 448-bit Blowfish (or other choices) encrypted folder up to 25 MB in size, mounts as a volume; you can assign its drive letter. After entering the password (your choice), files can be dragged and dropped into the container. You can create as many volumes as you have available drive letters, on hard drives, flash drives, any media that can be mounted as a drive under Windows. A very mature, stable product, backed by a major company that sells enhanced versions of Cryptainer at very reasonable prices. Their customer list includes some major companies and government agencies. This is an excellent choice to encrypt data on flash drives, in case you lose the drive. I haven't noticed any performance hit, unlike what you get with some software-based flash drive encrypters.
Cons
One password opens Cryptainer LE, so every volume has the same password. Menu could be better designed; newbies must learn by trial and error. These are minor quibbles compared to the value of this product; everyone who carries data on flash drives should use it!

"Only 25mb for free version"
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.1
-
"Does the job"
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.0.3
Pros
Pro version has unlimited space but free version is adequate
Cons
Fairly complicated to implement but when done works fine.
-
"There is a limit in the free version: 20 MB."
Version: Cryptainer LE 7.0.3
Cons
I don't understand how CNET claims there is "no limitations" in this software. After having installed it, I found out that your "vault" can only store a funny 20 MB! You have to buy the software to get a real use out of it.
