"It's pretty fair at what it does"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
ease of use is important to me as an older user, this seems to me to be O.K. but I may have missed something !
Cons
The constant demands for review are annoying, people who download, are meaning to try the product "in the near future", not that day. So I, for one, wished that they would wait until I have had a fuller look, and not ask me for a review, until then.
Summary
I like the idea of being able to access this program, and given a little time might try some more of this type, when I get a bit more acqauinted with graphics and photo manipulation skills.

"Legendary software deserves better support from Corel"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
Ultra intuitive, friendly, great features and superb effects, easy manipulation and one of a kind filter integrations, fast to complete intermediate jobs
Cons
Used to be in better hands with Ulead support, tools just miss the mark compared to photoshop elegance or Magix Graphics Designer smoothness. Eats memory and drains CPU on advanced renders. Not fit for publishing, no vector development
Summary
I have been a super loyal fan of PhotoImpact since PhotoImpact 3. It is easy to learn, and gets excellent results editing photos. It is a brilliant texture creating and bitmap art application with a full set of effects to distort and add futuristic textures as well as animate. Its blend filters are better than any other drawing software.
There are flaws with memory and cpu use and the tools lack the refinement of Photoshop or Magix Graphics Designer.
For photographers, web artists and designers and intermediate to advanced graphics this is the ultimate tool to have in your arsenal. The web page utilities include auto and manual slicing, graphics optimization, html text and flash movie insertion, plus a huge assortment of great templates for buttons, icons, borders, objects, headers, thirds and banners.
I hope Corel decides to revamp the Photoimpact code and develop the next generation of this classic software. I am sure I speak for the thousands of Photoimpact fans who are searching for the next, new and improved build.

"Better than PhotoImpact 11"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
The interface is almost the same as U-Lead's Photoimpact 11- very easy to use. One can master the intuitive features without cryptic tutorials. Also, more improved features with better display, speed and more exact results. Good optional intro menu
Cons
Did not like the Corel MediaOne that came with it and will uninstall it soon. I did not like the way it took over my image files in unfamiliar ways and designated itself as the default program.
Summary
U Lead is a good company.Corel is a good company. Together they have made the best iteration of PhotoImpact I have used. Its newer features such as HDR, Digimarc and DVD Menu maker and more, make it one of the best low-cost image editors on the market. I have been using PhotoImpact since version 3 and this program is just as good as the Adobe products at a fraction of the cost, and much easier to use as well. I recommend it for both beginners and advanced users.

"I can't stand it"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
have no idea about advantages
Cons
disgusting UI, no chance to edit alpha layer like in Photoshop, 5 minutes was enough to shut it down..

"Comprehensive and Professional level product"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
Intuitive with an excellent GUI. Tools sets are easy to use. Results are superb.
Cons
Try as I might I cannot think of any cons......
Summary
I was taught to use photoshop and did so for a year. I found Photoimpact X3 to be easier to use but with all the capabilities and tools I needed to produce some great photos. There is no way now I could or would change to a different product - this one has won me as a long term fan. Clone and touch up tools are easy and a tremendous value add for quick repairs. I do all my shoots in RAW and use Pixmantic Rawshooter to convert, then finish with X3. I do a lot of graphic work and X3 makes an excellent graphic and photo combiner producing some outstanding design results. Love it.

"A excellent photo utility equal to Picasa3"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
Easy to use, a very good Fix it utility
Cons
I found no good reason to dislike.
-
"Does not support current DSLR"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
Better than having nothing.
Cons
They are not updating the support for newer cameras/file formats. Canon 40D and above cannot be used. Same with Nikon 300 etc.
Summary
Useless for modern photographers. Shame on CNET for not noting this lack of support on the download page.

"Great product"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
A lot of features, effects, tools to play with. Love the galleries and the libraries, easy to organize.
I hope Corel will continue developing this wonderful Ulead product.Cons
Weak painting tool-set. Path drawing tool has room to improve!
Summary
If you want fast great looking results, this is the program that you are looking for...

"No bad for the Intermediate user"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
Fully loaded for the intermediate user who wants something a bit more, but a bit less than Photoshop
Cons
Hard to uninstall, takes forever. If you only want to try it, for a quick look, unless you have 1/2 to waste uninstalling it, dont bother.
Summary
Good, probably worth buying, but there are better out there.

"Should be voted as the world's worst software"
Version: Corel PhotoImpact X3
Pros
I worked for years with Photo Impact 7, it was a great software, with only a few small bugs. For the last 5 years (or more), PI7 allowed me to save thousands of dollars.
Cons
PI7 doesn't work with Vista, so I had to buy PI X3. I never had to work with a program that crashed so many times, it's horribe - it forgets lots of options that you changed from the default profile, drawing objects with big detail became ...
Summary
... impossible, and it's latest achievement is stop responding when opening tif files that were saved in the same program, fles that open in all other software. It's unbelievable that a company with the name Corel could have the nerve to put a software like this on the market. I've spent hours and hours going crazy on how to handle with all this problemas - FOR ME, THE WORST SOFTWARE IN THE WORLD.
