"Do not install this program !"

    December 16, 2014  |   By tbgoog

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

none. the old version of the prog is gone and the new owner turned it into malware heaven !

    Cons

WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM !!

I downloaded cpu temp from http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ and I got a whole lot junkware on my system: a bobrowser and a magic program called hpui.exe that restarted automatically when killed.... unbelievable !

There are only two programs that can remove this junk from your system: anti-malware bytes mamba and adwcleaner.

    good luck !!

try to avoid this headache if you can.

    Summary

    This is junk, junk, junk.
    Stay away from it.

"Do not install. It contains a Trojan horse"

    October 7, 2014  |   By jorgecalder

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

I did not even install it

    Cons

Even though I downloaded this app directly from alcpu.com, AVG AntiVirus says the setup file contains the MalSign.Generic.2E0

AVG states "Trojan horse Generic is a malicious application that allows hackers to remotely access you computer system letting them modify files, steal personal information and install more unwanted software."

    Summary

Do NOT install. It contains MalSign.Generic.2E0

    "Bundled with MALWARE"

    September 21, 2014  |   By DigitalBlade

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

None, no good developer that will bundle it with malicious software. It might have been good without the malware, but that's irrelevant.

    Cons

It installs YTDownloader (for which there is no option to opt out under advanced install - you can opt out of other seemingly harmless ones (which I did).

It takes over your browsers (changes home page/search engine EVEN after you try to switch back), makes multiple changes to registry, creates scheduled tasks to auto re-install if you uninstall it, and is just an all-around nightmare to clean up.

DO NOT INSTALL the .exe version

    Summary

DO NOT INSTALL. Too bad there's no way to report to CNET, having "CNET Secure Download" for this is misleading

    "Awesome program!"

    May 23, 2014  |   By mrmiran

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

Graph shows temperature over time, numbers on the task bar show the temperature for each core in real time. The desktop widget also shows your processor type, clockspeed, and RAM used.

    Cons

PLEASE read when you install software! Don't blindly click "accept" on things! READ! Just go to "advanced settings" when you install it and un-select the extra software so it doesn't install any adware. READ any pop-ups that show up on your screen! Don't blame the programmer! This is a Cnet issue. I hate sneaky stuff like that.

    Summary

Saved my wife's laptop from an early death! We have birds... Cockatiels, to be specific, and they produce a lot of dander and dust. The computer fan sucks all that right into the computer and over time it begins running hotter and hotter. We dust and vacuum regularly, but the dust in the computer has to be blown out from time to time. This program lets us now LONG before it is a problem! I highly recommend it!

"Contains a load of malware. Don't download"

    February 18, 2014  |   By rfilcoff

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

Nice display of temperature for each core: (currrent temp, min temp and max temp.
    Also display processors frequency

    Cons

The amount of pop-ups that the malware that accompanied this download/installation was enough to render my computer virtually useless. I wasted several hours cleaning up the mess that this software left on my computer.

    Summary

    Avoid this software.

    "Works great."

    November 13, 2013  |   By swanjame

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

I run it on a Windows 7 notebook, a Windows 7 netbook, and a Windows 8 tablet, all dual core. It was very helpful in diagnosing and fixing a longstanding problem with overheating in the notebook.

    Cons

Absolutely none. It installs easily and I have it start with Windows.

    Summary

Keep an eye on your temps!

    "Works perfectly - READ instructions"

    October 10, 2013  |   By alurlyrx

    Version: Core Temp Gadget 2.7

    Pros

Asus Sabertooth FX 990 FX2.0 with AMD 8350 CPU ... all eight cores register temperature perfectly. No beefs. I've been using this desktop gadget and Core Temp app for over a year on two other machines with 4 cores with no problems.

    Cons

You have to be able to read and follow directions with the capacity of a middle school student if you don't want to accept the free offers. Given that the only thing that males read are stop signs, it is a bit of a challenge. If you use CNET and can't work your way through the free offers, I wouldn't embarrass myself and post it in the reviews. The only thing I noticed is that I had to go to an additional site to download the Core Temp app. It had one button to skip all free offers. It is very ethical.

    Summary

Seriously, I wouldn't admit that I had trouble installing and using this app. It is as easy to use and performs perfectly. Most people don't need to see their core temps unless they're overclocking. I can't believe someone with the knowledge of overclocking would have a problem with this program.
