Editors' review

If you're a Web designer or Net content producer, your FTP program has to be rock-solid. This one fits the bill. In our testing, Core FTP Pro proved to be one of the most feature-packed and convenient FTP tools on the market. Its straightforward interface allows you to switch quickly among sites, and advanced features make it a snap to compare and synchronize local and remote directories.

The program lets you download or upload multiple files from several servers simultaneously and schedule transfers, and it supports secure SSL data flows. It has a few quirks, such as an inability to open two sites within one program window, or to browse a site's directory without pausing active downloads. However, we recommend the program to computer users who need to manage large Web sites.

"Doesn't do what I need it to. Fine for simple tasks!"

    April 13, 2014   |   By jmc452

    Version: Core FTP Pro 2.2.1796

    Pros

I know this isn't fair, but compared to my old FTP (doesn't work with Win7 or 8 or I wouldn't be look for a new program), I can't think of any pros.

    Cons

Major con is it doesn't look in folders when it does a compare. When I looked in each folder it thought there was something different about every single photo because the photo on my hard drive was dated the day I took it and the photo on the FTP site was dated the date I uploaded it. Almost never the same day and certainly not the same second. Even files that I manually uploaded, were several seconds off and compare said they were different.

    Summary

If it can do the things I need, than it's too complicated for the average, individual site administrator to configure. If it can't it is certainly not worth paying for.
