Editors' review

iTunes is the default program for managing all of your Apple devices, but it's certainly not the be-all and end-all for managing your iPhone or iPod content. CopyTrans promises an easy, smart, safe way to transfer and back up your Apple device content, and it delivers.

To ensure a positive user experience, CopyTrans offers help from the get-go with a pop-up window that gives you links to its online User Guides, Getting Started Guide, and video demo. But thanks to its simple but functional user interface, we really didn't need the documentation. With our iPhone 4 plugged into our PC, the program immediately went to work pulling our playlist and camera info and displaying the content in the window. Our music playlist info was broken down into Genre, Artists, and Albums. You have two backup options: Smart and Manual. With Smart backup selected, we clicked the button of the same name. CopyTrans immediately went to work and we could watch the status of the backup in a pop-up window that also allows you to pause and cancel the action. Now, we don't keep a lot of content on our iPhone - we had only 89 files between apps and music - and it took about seven minutes to copy all of the files; it wasn't a lot of time, but if you have a lot of content on your device, it could take a bit of time to complete. Still, once CopyTrans finished copying all of the files, it copied the files to our computer and imported them to iTunes. The Settings menu gives you the option of displaying album artwork and sending errors and/or usage statistics to the CopyTrans team.

CopyTrans comes as a zip file, but installs and uninstalls cleanly. It's a worthy program for restoring your iPhone, iPod, and iPad content and easily transferring files between devices. We recommend it for all user levels.

Editors' note: This is a review of the full version of CopyTrans 4.836. The trial version is limited to 250 tracks per transfer.

    "Excellent service"

    July 21, 2014   |   By srgBo

    Version: CopyTrans 4.864

+ first-class support with personal touch - also considering it on a weekend

+ iphone 5s - 3500 songs (both purchased and downloaded from CDs), 130+ playlists and countless videos - I recovered all of them back to my itunes library after a computer crash

+ ipod classic - 25000 songs and 100+ playlists transferred

    + works as described

+ I had an unrelated windows issue with my new Windows 8.1 (the PC that crashed was Win 7) - the person from support helped me fix that and transfer all songs to iTunes

    + worth every penny

+ says it on the tin and does it - no con

I don't waste time with reviews but I made an exception. This is the third program I have actually purchased from these guys and the third time I've been enchanted. I owe them my peace of mind.

You rarely encounter a tech company who is ready to help you with your problem these days.

"New Name Of Phones Security & Safety"

    July 18, 2014   |   By Laweruxer

    Version: CopyTrans 4.864

I gave a try to this tool but no success. I'm using iPhone 5S (running on iOS7) and it simply did not detect my phone. Now finally, I am settled with another similar tool named iOS Transfer and it lived up to my expectations.

The only thing missing is that it (iOS Transfer) does not transfer playlists to computer in ANTS file format. But still would recommend it!

PS I'm not advertising this program. I just found it useful and thought of sharing with others. I would also advise you to try before you buy.

Very few that I could find (ok, the software was $20, but Apple wanted $19 and didn't have a solution).

I would like to see it work with out Apples iTunes. I would like also to see features as wifi connection with my devices, the ability to import pictures to camera roll and secondly not so important but helpful, remote access to my computer , remote mouse support .
