"Good product but............."

I have used this product to restore some otherwise useless ipods, which Windows and iTunes had failed to do.

Summary
Use of this product is restricted to a maximum of 10 ipods. Then it tells you to contact the company to enquire about the "professional" version which they want to charge significantly more to give you a license. I have no problem with paying someone for their product per se, but there is absolutely nothing on their website or in the EULA at the point of paying for the "basic" version, which mentions this restriction or the pro version. Had this been apparent I wouldn't have paid for the basic license as I fix ipods as a hobby. I have complained to them, so far I've not had a response.

Pros
I inadvertently deleted my playlists from my hard drive and was able to fully recover them.
Cons
The first error scan took over 24 hours. The second time was faster when I disabled a number of programs I had running simultaneously.

Summary
This program was a real life saver for me. It helps me fixing corruption on my 3-year old iPod video. When my favorite Apple device stopped working one day, I thought my only choice was to buy a new one. It was before I tumbled upon CopyTrans Doctor. Not only did this software repair my iPod but it also undeleted hundreds of files I had wiped due to an accidental sync. Thank you very much CopyTrans team!

You don't know if your problem can't be solved.
Summary
The doctor doesn't seem capable of repairing, or even bypassing, a damaged disk. The product simply hangs up in step 2 of the repair process. I let the program run for 26 hours...and had no more progress than was shown in the first 6 minutes, no indication that I should do anything but continue to wait.
I had bought the upgrade because the basic product hung up exactly the same way when it got to a particular sector on the iPod.
On the bright side, I've wasted a lot more money than the $40 that this product cost...and maybe it will be useful some other day...unlike a $40 night at the bar. -
"Don't Bother unless you want to buy the full version."

The trail only tells you that there are errors on your ipod, you have to buy the full version to fix it. Not willing to shell out $40.00 (1/2 of what I paid for my ipod) to see if their fix works.
Cons
Let us try it at least once.

Pros
My iPod was showing the sad face icon.
I tried CopyTrans Doctor for free. I found "errors" on my iPod. I purchased the full version.
It scanned my iPod for a while and voilà: my iPod was was working perfectly again and I could even recover missing songs and songs that were skipped by my iPod.
Worth the bucks and I didn't need to buy a new iPod!
