iPhones, iPod Touch MP3 players, and iPads are ubiquitous, and iTunes is the primary way to manage all those devices. However, if you're looking for a simple workaround to iTunes to manage and back up all of your contact information, CopyTrans Contacts is a great way to go.
You don't need a visit to CopyTrans Contacts' online User Guides to get started, as the interface is plain, but self-explanatory. The program asks you to plug in your Apple device and, once detected, it immediately gets to work. We plugged in our iPhone 4 to our PC and in no time all of our contact information, including associated pictures, appeared in a Contact list on the left side of the window. Checkboxes next to each contact let you view that person's phone, email, and address information - everything we added in our iPhone. Once selected, we were able to click the Edit contact feature and modify the info. From there, we decided to export all of our contacts to an Excel spreadsheet. A single checkbox at the top let us quickly select all of our contacts. We selected the export location and how we wanted it transferred, and CopyTrans Contacts successfully saved them in a formatted spreadsheet. Similar tests were performed to send our Gmail, Outlook, and Windows contacts and all were just as quick and easy as our first test. CopyTrans Contacts even lets you create your own Groups by first naming the group, and then dragging and dropping each contact to the window. The Settings menu gives you a sync option so you can immediately save any changes to your device. It also lets you change the sort and display order, as well as restore your address book, and check for updates.
CopyTrans Contacts comes as a zip file, but it installs and uninstalls cleanly. It's a great program if you want a quick and easy way to manage your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad contact information. We recommend it for all user levels.

"Superb/best app I ever came across for Apple products"

Transferring contacts to and from iPhone had been a nightmare for me before I came across this wonderful CopyTrans Contacts app. Earlier I would search the web for hours trying to manage the transferring of contacts from my Outlook, Yahoo and Gmail accounts; each of the account had its own peculiar method of transfer. As a layman, prior to working with CopyTrans, I encountered mishaps, i.e. some contacts were lost, overwritten or modified during transfer and could not be recovered. However, CopyTrans made it a breeze transferring and copying contacts to/from Outlook, Yahoo and Gmail.
The layout of CopyTrans is simplicity in itself and it is hard to go wrong. Additionally it is not only transferring contacts but one can also manage copy/transfer of photos, albums, songs, videos, SMS to/from iPod, iPhone and iPad. And to top it all one can even recover and repair missing and deleted songs on the iPod.
What more can one wish for in a simple app for Contacts!!!Cons
To be honest CopyTrans exceeds my expectations and I have yet to come across any short-coming or deficiency in this excellent app.
It has made my life simpler and even though not very tech-savvy I am able to handle transferring contacts with confidence.
The only drawback I came across is not connected with the use of the app per se. It is the payment part for the 'full version for unlimited use' wherein only PayPal is authorised to accept and process the payment. Unfortunately, where I live PayPal is non-existent. -

Just got the Galaxy S3, and I wanted to transfer my 1200 contacts from my iPhone 4S. Tried a couple options, didn't work and decided to contact customer service. They got back to me within 24 hours with an alternative method that worked perfectly.

I do not use itunes on my computer and it was imposible for me to find a way to trasnfer my iphone contacts to my outlook. copytran Contacts made the transfer possible - what's more - I didn't have to even open outlook for the transfer to take place.

I tried backing up my old iphone contacts via itunes but it just wasn't what I was looking for. I used this program to back up my contact list to my computer and then transfer it to my new iphone. I am now not worried that my contacts will be lost if something happens to my phone. -

Summary
For a couple of years in college, I had accumulated dozens of contacts on my iPhone. Some of them were missing the complete names, other people had their cells changed and were not updated within my contact list. The copytrans Contacts helped me add the missing information quickly right from my PC. If I had to do it on the iPhone, it would have taken hours.
Once I had my contact list organized, I backed up a safe copy to my PC using the same program. -

I am not a messy person but my iphone contacts list was in such a chaos - I had synced contacts from elsewhere - my gmail account - my PC - etc and for years I had a number of duplicated contacts. this contacts tool was useful and helped me organize my iphone contacts into groups, delete all the duplicated data, and add updated information for some contacts. I then used the program to safely back up my organized contact list to my computer.

...for some reason, this version (0.089) will only allow 20 contacts to be exported. The only way to get it to do more is to close it down, and re-open it, and then you get another 20. What's with that?

Obviously, a fluke. LEt's hope it gets fixed. I've emailed their support team, which is usually very good to reply.

"Helped me import my Windows contacts to my iPhone"

Quick and direct import via drag and drop - no iTunes or confusing online sync service was needed, just my PC and my iPhone.
The program also identified my duplicate contacts on the spot and only transferred the needed entries to my iPhone.Cons

Summary
I keep a backup of all my contacts on my Windows Address Book. The contacts are sourced from my two email accounts and my previous phones I have had. Many of these contacts are duplicated and I was not excited to import them to my new iPhone via an iTunes-sync as it would have copied all entries (including the duplicates) to my iPhone.
I was delighted to use the quick drag/drip method this tool offered in order to transfer my Windows Address Book contacts to my iPhone. On top of it, it pointed out all the duplicate entries on the spot.
