"Negative. v4.05 has very low file limit search."

    March 17, 2014  |   By SoftwareTestPilot

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 4.0.5.1231

    Pros

Better search than what Windows 7 offers internally.

    Cons

I've used this software for years. Just recently with their 4.05 Lite update release, it re-indexed everything then ceased searching my files. It now has a drastic limit reduction! Very disappointed. Now looking for another free desktop search.

"Free version works but with restrictions"

    February 28, 2014  |   By yowface1

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 4.0.5.1231

    Pros

Scans your local hard disk quickly.

    Cons

Doesn't let you add in new file types to be scanned even if the files are text based. Won't scan Microsoft Outlook email (at least not my 64-bit 2013 Outlook)

    Summary

If you just want basic desktop scanning and don't need to make any modifications to the base product then this program will work for you. If you need to scan anything else, try using the native scanner built into Windows 7 as it finds more matches and integrates with email.

"DOWNGRADE AND SENT ME TO A FRENCH SITE TO ACTIVATE"

    February 28, 2014  |   By jcadbiz

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 4.0.5.1231

    Pros

    FREE
    Probably still works okay.

    Cons

USED TO BE BETTER - now limited to 75,000 files - and has some kind of new AUTHORIZATION PROCESS that it never had before - and BLEW IT ON THE INSTALL PACKAGE for some reason.

    Summary

I'm going to wait until 4.1 or so - somebody obvious had a bad day building the install. Also I want to see a NEO review before I even take a chance installing this version.

    "Quite Pleased"

    November 11, 2013  |   By TBanghart

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 4.0.2.1085

    Pros

    Comprehensive List of Files
Easily sorted by Name or Date
Preview allows quick view if needs to be opened.
    Not overly comples
Search intuitive based on keywords or lack thereof.

    Cons

Does not load as quick on double [ctrl} click as Google did.
Lots of revisions have been released lately

    Summary

I found it very comprehensive. I was a Google Desktop Search user, and after that was retired looked for a comparable product. Copernic meets my expectations.

"can't even search for .pst files"

    November 4, 2013  |   By kteaff

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 4.0.2.1085

    Pros

none. none. none. (CNET told me I had to have at least ten characters in my review)

    Cons

    not intuitive
    won't search for .pst files
won't allow addition of .pst to its file-search table

    Summary

Wasted 15 minutes downloading and trying to use this piece of junk, then uninstalling it, then writing this review.

    "Adds advertisements to EVERYTHING"

    April 2, 2013  |   By phlypp

    Version: Copernic Desktop Search 3.7.0.8

    Pros

Did find the files I was looking for.

    Cons

After I installed, ads started popping up everywhere, Reddit, newspaper columns, comment fields, etc. It talked about an ad-free version if you paid but I assumed this meant ads when you were using the software, not in my entire browsing experience. STAY AWAY!

    Summary

Malware infected, unless you don't mind ads in everything you read on-line.
