From DVO Enterprises:
Recipes are one of the top searched for terms on the internet with Google getting millions of recipe searches a day. The problem is, what do you do when you find great recipes on the web? Most people print them. But then you end up with often messy stacks of papers on your desk combined with hand-written recipes, magazine clippings. Some people set up online recipe box accounts, bookmark them, copy and paste into Word, and others pin them on Pinterest. But finding what you are looking for can be cumbersome and time-consuming. Now there's a better way - enter Cook'n.
Cook'n has become the #1 best-selling recipe organizer software with over 6 million copies sold. It is the best way to take control of your recipes. Cook'n makes it easy to get all of your recipes into one platform by having powerful features which allow you to scan in recipes, capture favorite internet recipes with one click, import Pinterest recipes, copy recipes from Word, or simply type them in. You can even drag them in from a live recipe feed in Cook'n that shows delicious photos from brand-new recipe posts across the web.
Once you have your recipes in Cook'n you can organize them into various cookbooks and chapters. Then is where the fun continues. You adjust serving sizes with one click, analyze nutrition, generate shopping lists, make meal plans and weekly menus, sync with your mobile device, print family cookbooks.
Cook'n simplifies meal preparation and saves you time and money at the grocery store. Tell Cook'n which items you have on hand and it will suggest recipes or you can browse through hundreds of cookbook photos, including your own, to find one you like for dinner. Download Cook'n today to preserve your favorite recipes and discover the joy of cooking again.
What's new in this version:
Version 12.5.8 has loads of new features that makes it super easy to keep track of your favorite recipes
I am over 65 and retired on a fixed income, but loved the benefits such as entering recipes from the internet without re-typing and the Cloud storage CookN touted so moved my recipes from Mastercook to CookN. The application CookN sent me for moving my recipes did not work (it may now), so I entered all of the bulk of them by hand. I did not have the money for the latest version with all the features, so my daughter gave it to me for my birthday. I was elated. Now, they are extorting a monthly membership fee or these features no longer work. Rip-off! And Dan Oaks says he is a good Mormon. Guess that depends on your definition of GREED and the effect his has had on his patrons like me. So sad.
Took my money more than once and now features promised are out of my reach financially because of his newly instated monthly membership fee requirement. DO NOT BUY
None. Can't sync software without paying monthly charge
I have been a Cookn' customer for over 10 years.Even though, I had to purchase upgrades from 7.0, 8.5, 10.0 & 12.0 I have been happy as a DVO customer (until now). Cookn' 12 was rolled out last winter as an upgrade to Cookn'11 with more functionality. As of now June 2016, the product that we have already has been crippled unless we pay an additional monthly subscription fee of $15 per month. That's more than Netflix!
They are placing an arbitrary limit (only FIVE) on the number of recipes you can scan or capture (previously unlimited). Cloud storage is gone, which makes syncing recipes & sending shopping lists to from your desktop to moble phone impossible. This should have been communicated to us when we spent in excess of $75 for the software.
I have purchased MasterCook and am entirely happy with it as a replacement for Cookn
You may have noticed that just about every technology company has switched to a SaaS (Software as a Service) business model and is now charging a monthly fee for their service. Cook'n has done the same.
You can use the Cook'n product forever without paying anything more. We only charging for services like Cloud services, upgrades, tech support services, and other web services like Capture and Scan.
"... has been crippled unless we pay an additional monthly subscription fee of $15 per month"
-->This is not correct. Currently, there are two membership options for the services referred to in this review: a Standard for $9.95 and Premium for $14.95.
"I have purchased MasterCook and am entirely happy with it as a replacement for Cookn"
-->There are plenty of free recipe apps too. But, you get what you pay for. If you want to invest hours and hours of your time entering and organizing your personal recipes only to be disappointed, then use a cheap imitation.
