"Addictive."
Version: Console Classix 4.22
Pros
Despite all the newer games that are out, the best ones are still the classics from Atari and Nintendo. Anyone who grew up in the 70's or 80's knows it. This is a chance to relive all the classics.
Cons
Loading and saving games varies depending on the system, but it's not rocket science to figure out. Just a minor inconvenience.
Summary
Well worth your time, and well worth the additional charge to get the extra gaming systems. If that's what it takes to keep this site up and running, then so be it.

"so THAT'S why I didn't keep my Atari"
Version: Console Classix 4.22
Pros
lots of old really, really old classics
Cons
Really really old! The graphics are just ancient - EGA quality; horrible, if you've been away from your Pong for too long.
Summary
Interesting and a little disturbing trip down memory lane - we actually thought these games were good, back in the day! Visually I just can't go back. I run an SLI 4 quad machine, and these had me groaning; but hey, some of them actually use ALL 16 colors!
This was a greet-and-delete for me. For nostalgia buffs, this may satisfy you. -

"crippleware, borderline malware. install at own risk"
Version: Console Classix 4.15
Pros
none, really
Cons
you don't actually get the games, you get the client to stream content from their server
nag screens
possibility of remote code executionSummary
it is not a game. it is a client-side app to stream games from their vastly underpowered, overused server. if their server goes down, you are left with an entirely useless piece of software.
the way it runs the games presents gaping security holes; remote code execution through this would be easy. -
"havent figured it out yet"
Version: Console Classix 4.15
Pros
I can play old games for free
Cons
nothing as of yet
-
"Recent updates are worse, not better."
Version: Console Classix 4.15
Pros
Free, easy to use, wide library of games at the touch of a button.
Cons
Poor interface, nag screens, game info removed and replaced with low-quality screenshots.
Summary
Needs improvement.

"a bunch of emulators with a price tag."
Version: Console Classix 3.8
Pros
nice selection.
Cons
I could download the same emulators and games from Zophar.net for free.
Summary
I look in the program files and see visualboyadvance, znes, and nester in there. I'm sure console classix didn't code them, so I don't think it's right that they're having people pay to use something that can be found for free from the people who actually made it. Not to mention that all these "games" (or roms) can be found through Google, except you don't need a subscription, it stays on your computer, and there is no "other people are playing, plz try later." bs.

"Makes a pretty good NES"
Version: Console Classix 4.14
Pros
This version is smoother than the the others were. No color glitches; not as much sputtering...
Cons
I might as well pay the $60 for the whole thing...
Summary
Buy it. It's worth it, and you don't need to look around for a store full of old consoles.

"This new version is the best so far"
Version: Console Classix 4.13
Pros
Great game emulation. Easier to use than MAME. Doesn't stutter as much as it once did. Great interface.
Cons
I have to pay more to get more games, but this is a minor quibble.
