Over-engineered. Configuration options can be overwhelming. No stereo mix, but I believe it is due to the music industry.
Summary
On my Toshiba Satellite, the audio was poor on default settings: quiet, and the lows did not sound correct. After disabling all enhancements (Control Panel > Sound > Single click on Speakers (in list) and then Properties > Enhancements tab > check Disable all enhancements), audio quality and volume was improved. Driver version 8.51.1.0

bad quality-sound.
driver problems. stucking-sound while playing a game or watching a movie.
furthermore damn- driver-support.

I have an Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with that audio-chipset. My former Laptop was an Samsung P35, and what should I say. Hardwarecastration for profit. My five year older laptop had an StereoMix. My T400 doesn't have. Thats poor.
Dell did it, and got flamed for it. They put it back in there products and the customers got happy.

How to change? Well, call the support and ask them for the reason why they removed or disabbled stereomix-features.
Write emails why they disabled it. Tell them, that you have the feeling you got betrayed.
Never forget, they need us. -
