"really nice, too limited of a trial"
Pros: The interface is really nice and very easy to use. The manual, available from their website, is also well-written and explains most questions you might have. I really liked how you can delete all the included recipes if you want too, but the recipes are actually more eclectic-ly pleasing than many others I have encounterd in similar programs. The program is designed by one person, not a big company, so it doesn't do quite as much as some of the bigger ones, but if you want a simple, nice program for organizing your recipes, I would recommend this one. There is a shopping list and menu maker within the program and you can sort your recipes by categories, servings and cuisines. There is also the export to IPOD feature which would probably be great for anyone who has an IPOD and it lets you include a photo and provides nutritional analysis for each recipe. The printing options are good in this program, almost everything is covered, including various note card sizes, black and white, including photos, etc.
Cons: I think trials should limit the time you can use the program, not what the program can do! Ultimately that was why I didn't buy this.
Nothing works in the trial. I couldn't get it to email anything, even with my outlook open, nothing happened. It says the trial is supposed to let you email stuff. Most everything is greyed-out. When I looked in the manual, there is a question asking why options in the non-trial version are greyed out. The answer-they are unneccessary. So I don't know if these un-grey after the trial or what. The program has categories, but I don't know what you can do with them. Anything I hit, I got the message that my password doesn't let me do that.
Overall, my complaint is that if you want someone to buy your software, it really helps if they can use the software fully, even if for a few minutes. It should be easy to see from a trial whether you can do what you want. I would have for sure bought this program, mostly because the interface is just so likeable and everything seems like it flows so easily, but I couldn't figure out if it did the stuff I needed it to do. I was looking for what formats it can import and export, how it sorts recipes, printing or webpage creating options and can you create your own categories or cookbooks? I could only tell about a couple of these things from the trial. Also there is no save button or save option anywhere that I could find, not even in the greyed out stuff. There is a backup option, but how to backup if you don't save, I don't know.
Anyways, I bookmarked this software and might go back to it one day if they improve their trial so you can actually see what it does. I think it has really good potential and someone else might not mind emailing the author to find out what it does. I was in too much of a hurry to do so.

Summary: Looks beautful! The demo didn't let me do much, but I registered and it's very simple. Shopping list works well, and I love the conversions menu. 3x5 card prints will work wonders for my recipe catalog. Thank you! read more

"installs, but won't run on my Vista machine"
Pros: _LOOKS_ GREAT!
Cons: I just re-installed my system on a clean drive, but it still won't run. It's too bad, too, as it appears the best of the lot. I tried contacting the publisher, but they couldn't be bothered to respond.
