This easy-to-use utility quickly collects information to generate a complete report of hardware and registered software, but a single error could confuse many users. Computer Census is an executable that is run from your desktop or through a command line. The utility opens a command window to display its scan progress, but fails to inform users where to find the results. On our test machines, the files were in the My Documents folder. We found it very fast as it gathered information in four areas of our computer: operating system, network, hardware, and registered software part. The most useful result is a complete system report that details operating system data, services, installed printers, network settings, and extensive information hardware data. The information is also saved in a generic database file. Finally, it saves a program activity log useful when multiple machines are inventoried. Computer Census has an extremely small footprint, needs no supporting DLLs to run, and can collect data on every computer in a domain. This trial program is limited to three machines per execution, though. Technicians, system administrators, and all users wanting a comprehensive system report will find this utility very beneficial.Publisher's description

Version: Computer Census 3.37
"Works for me...lots of info."
Pros: Conveniently compiles lots of system info in one place (in two forms--both as a text file and as an Access database).
Cons: User interface is bare-bones, but tells you enough to know what's happening.

Version: Computer Census 3.37
"Huh...did I miss something here?"
Cons: Ran this program, in a beautiful dos window it makes a few cryptic comments, then says, push any button to continue. I did, and the program simply exited. Was this supposed to, in some way, be helpful?
