"Malicious Software - Read how to remove below..."

    January 6, 2011  |   By William_Berzoff

    Version: Complete Data Wipe 2.3

    Pros

Before you consider installing this program please read all reviews written about it.

    Cons

The changes it makes to your system are of such nature that you may qualify this as malicious software. Trust me, there are other, better alternatives.

    Summary

If you have installed this program you can try to remove it completely with freeware programs like Revo Uninstaller or ZSoft Uninstaller.
If you get any reports that some files can't be accessed you can try to remove them with programs like EMCO UnLock IT (freeware) or Eraser (freeware). Latter methods are not very conventional but sometimes the only effective methods, so apply at own risk.
It may also be wise to scan your PC with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware (freeware version) for any malware. Malwarebytes' is the PC geeks' choice scanner for infected computers. You don't need to use their anti-virus protection feature for permanent protection better use Avast! Antivirus (freeware) or Microsoft Security Essentials (freeware).
If all this still doesn't help go to a computer forum like bleepingcomputer.com, register for free and ask for help there. Their community has experts that will advice you how to remove malicious software and rescueing your PC.

    "Wow. Bad Rap..."

    August 24, 2010  |   By ShadowVulpine

    Version: Complete Data Wipe 2.0

    Pros

Not a thing if this is the response i see on a product.
    Didn't even down it.

    Cons

If the product is getting this bad of a review then people need to look into it and either fix the dang thing or just remove it from the site. I'm rather surprised that anything from here is causing that much of a problem.

    Summary

Non of my 20 computers that I work with will ever see this application and truthfully i could care less if the program was a forced install by just viewing the site. It feels like a few things that i went through with Internet Explorer, hence why I'm still using IE6 and not anything new. Though a program that screws with FireFox and Oprea, that will not go over well.

    "WARNING - MALWSARE, can't uninstall"

    July 1, 2010  |   By camcordman

    Version: Complete Data Wipe 2.0

    Pros

    None so far

    Cons

Never able to get it to wipe data!

    Summary

DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE - IT IS MALWARE

I'm a business user. I was going to use it to wipe out business records. After installing this software, it never "wiped" any data. It was therefore useless to me. I tried to uninstall it, and it won't let me uninstall it either. After reading fjord_fox review, I have to agree with him. It is malware - that is, a badly written computer program. I not sure if it is intentional or not. But it makes me suspicious that it was written to steal data, as it asks for unlimited access to my computer when I try to uninstall it. When I deny it access, it won't uninstall.

After installing this software, I would be on a web site, then another web page would randomly open up a "bad" malware laden sites (on it's own), without me clicking on anything. My security software prevented the site from opening. Then my computer often became unresponsive - sometimes it locked my computer up so badly I had to power down to reset it. Very annoying.

Also, after every boot up, this software is changing my windows xp settings. Because of a "bug" in their malware, I can easily see when it's running, and know when it will be active and will annoy me the most by opening up new "bad" internet sites.

Luckily, I have registry backups that I can use to get rid of this software, before it was installed.

If anyone else has an easy way to uninstall this software, please post it here, to help out others with registry backups.

"WARNING! THIS IS MALICIOUS, MALICIOUS SOFTWARE!"

    May 19, 2010  |   By fjord_fox

    Version: Complete Data Wipe 2.0

    Pros

To be fair, it IS a good piece of software that does a good (not excellent) job at wiping a hard disk, though I would rather that it have the ability to wipe UNALLOCATED space. To wipe the hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted first.

    Cons

This is filled with malicious software that will screw up your system rather quickly. It will continually delete (wipe) your System Restore Checkpoints as quickly as they are made--even after uninstalling!

    Summary

This is so bad, I am beginning to question the integrity of this website. They SAY that it is SPYWARE FREE, and it isn't, but it sure has a lot of INTENTIONALY malicious features in it.

First, when you try to install it, it forces you to install a toolbar called "Best Security Tips Toolbar". The best security tip that I can give you is to stay away from this toolbar! I installed it, nonetheless, because I believed that coming from this website, it would be safe to install, but quickly found out that it isn?t safe.

I don?t like toolbars. I have the Google Toolbar because it has all the features that I like and I have it customized with all the special buttons that I like, so I don?t need another toolbar, but yet, if I wanted to install this disk wiper, I had to install the toolbar. As soon as I installed it, I opened my Internet Explorer 8 and clicked on ?Hide toolbar? and it hid itself. However, as soon as I closed the wizard, it reopened itself. Then I went to ?Manage Add-ons? and found that in version 8 Internet Explorer has made it so you cannot DELETE any toolbar, but you CAN still DISABLE it, so I did. That made it hide again?but again, for only as long as the wizard was active.

Then, when I was going to uninstall Complete Data Wipe, I found that there was an uninstallation icon for the toolbar too, so I uninstalled it instead, thinking that my problem would be gone. It wasn?t. After uninstalling it, I opened FireFox and it was still there! In FireFox, in Manage Add-ons, it DOES HAVE a feature to uninstall it, so I did, and it did go away, but that still was not the end of my problems. Now when I open Opera, it still tells me that a malicious third party is trying to access Opera, but it has been blocked, and I don?t know how to stop that. At this point, I decided to uninstall the complete package and use System Restore, but I found that all of the System Restore Checkpoints had been deleted. Gosh! I wonder what did that?

That was about the problems with the toolbar. Now for the problems with the Complete Data Wipe?

The first thing I noticed about the program is that it doesn?t even recognize the hard disk if you have deleted the partition. For it to see the hard drive that you want to wipe, you first have to partition it and format it. This is not a complete wipe, in my opinion, because as soon as it is wiped, the computer puts on it, a copy of the System Restore Checkpoints. I don?t know if those could be recovered, but if so, I wouldn?t be surprised if one could duplicate everything you have on YOUR computer from these checkpoints.

The second thing I noticed is that there is constantly an icon in the System Tray (the lower right corner of your monitor) that is always there. WHY? It is a disk wiping program! Well it DOES also have a feature that could wipe unallocated disk space, but I don?t want that to be working all the time, so I right-clicked on its System Tray Icon and turned it off. However, just like with the toolbar, it was soon back on again. I decided that it was probably harmless, so I left it on. Then I found that that was a mistake.

I soon found that my System Restore Checkpoints were being deleted (wiped?) almost as soon as they were made! They were there for as long as the computer was turned on. But when I turn it off and back on again, they magically disappear! This was the final straw. When I realized that it was because of this program (being constantly active in the System Tray) that the System Restore Checkpoints were being deleted, I uninstalled it?using Revo Uninstaller. I was glad I did, because it found several registry entries that were not deleted during the uninstallation?ones that could potentially screw up the system. However, it did not catch everything.

The problem with Opera was still occurring and I don?t know how to fix that, and so was the problem with the System Restore Checkpoints disappearing. I even opened WinUtilities and checked the BHO Remover and found one that should not be there that was marked UNIDENTIFIED. Yet that still did not solve the problem. They ONLY SOLUTION is to have a DAMNED GOOD BACKUP that was made BEFORE INSTALLING this malicious software and use it to do a complete recovery. The BEST SOLUTION is to NEVER install this software to begin with!

These people are so crafty, they have found a way to get it past all your security programs, for it is not considered as a Trojan, a worm, or even a virus. But it ought to be! I?m up to 4500 of 5000 characters. I don?t usually write so much about software, but this software is one BAD piece of work!
